Try this
Squeeze the sides of the cap while turning it. This has worked for me

Use a large set of slip lock pliers to squeeze the sides. When you get it off take it into an auto parts store of your choosing and replace with a Stant cap.

It finally came off, prob just too hot to take off? IDK...used a towel to give me more grip on it. I'm never gonna tighten it all the way again!
