magnetic drain plug covered
just did my first (second for the Spyder)oil change.
The right side drain plug, the magnetic one, had a lot of residue on it (I've always called it swarf from my Ural days)
So, wondering if it's pretty normal to see that?

The first oil change usually has the most amount ...." swarf ", then is normally gets less ..... NORMALLY - is the key word.....some folks here have reported bits of metal on 2 -3 -4 oil changes...... I use full syn oil and haven't had much after my first change with the 1330 eng.,..... just did my 7th .... I do it at 5000 miles ..... Mike

“Magnetic dust” on my Yamaha motorcycles I put strong magnets on the outside of the metal filter canister....cause I’m crazy lol. I have cut theses used Fram filters apart after use and where the magnets are/were, there was a gelatinous glob that I assumed was oh so fine magnetic particles...rubbing between fingers, there was no “grit” feeling....so I can only assume that this was magnetic material or dust that was so fine it was travelling through the filter media

Swarf actually is the correct term. The guy who did the first oil change may not have cleaned the magnet, so you may be seeing some of the original residue. Just a thought.

I agree. Very possible. The real test will be your next oil change. If the magnet is basically clean, then I'd say the original cause was the lack of service on the 1st oil change. Though I don't know how a service tech could sleep at night knowing they left a magnet that way.

I had a Ural also. On my first oil change I found the end of a broken drill or machining tool bit about a 1/4" long. I'm sure nothing that the Spyder will release on it's first oil change will be that exciting. LOL
