    Default RT MOT

Hi all, anything to watch out for on an MOT (UK) regarding rolling road brake test? My 2010 RT is soon due for its first MOT in my ownership. I read that it can throw up faults on the ABS if all three wheels are not turning at the same time? Should the key be out of the ignition or just turned off??
Also, Tow Bar wanted for 2010 RT (UK only please)
    Thanks

    Default Interesting....🤔

I for one am not familiar with MOT. Most braking tests I have done for safety inspections here (well in Texas where they did that) was ryding up at speed and slaming on the brakes. Well and a visual as well. If done that way all wheels will be rolling at the same speed. If they are tested on a rolling drum like a dyno you will have problems. It will toss a code and you will still have the brakes functioning but will have to clear the code if it does not just go to storage after a computer reset....

Thanks, I assume that with the ignition off it should not be a problem? They use driven rollers here and the braking force is measured, it also shows if the brake is pulsing due to warped / unevenly worn rotors.

If the bike is in N maybe but spyder transmission not made to roll more than few hundred feet (meters)in N it does not circulate the fluid enough & can cause internal damage is why if you need a tow it need to be on flat bed, read your manual the UK may have special mode to engage or something.

    Default Me too.

My RT is only18 months old ,but since I found out that it would have to go to a car test centre for it's MOT I have wondered about this potential problem. Luckily my nearest MOT centre does bikes and cars and the owner is a keen biker and friend. I was wondering if you were to remove the sensors from all three wheels, temporarily and tie them up safely, would nanny know that the wheels were turning. Just a thought.

Relax... the 2010 RT's ABS system will happily keep all three wheels spinning at the same pace.
So mash the pedal, and hang on!
    Good luck!

There is a setting in BUDS to allow for a "roller table" brake test. Other than that, you will get a fault.

Maybe too late by now but doubt the inspectors have a BUDS link

2010 RT-S OK, MOT (Ministry of Transport Test for roadworthiness) all done with no problems. Rolling road brake test was done with ignition off, front wheels together and independently and back wheel on its own, no problems & no faults! = No worries for next time.
    Thanks for the comments, Aitch.
