    Default New rear tire

Going to the dealer to have General Altimax RT43 mounted this week.
I was surprised they agreed to install a car tire.

My question is: What is everyone running for tire pressure on the General?

    Thanks in advance

, you will Looooooooooooooove the difference from the Kenda ........ The perfect PSI would be 17-18 lbs..... it's a car tire and it doesn't need higher pressure to perform at it's BEST ..... It also doesn't matter if have a passenger AND are towing anything ,....that tire will support it .........Mike

The Spyder is my two up touring machine so it is usually loaded. I run 22 psi in the Altimax and after 10,000 miles the wear is light and even.

I run my Altimax at 17 psi ALL the time ....with 150lb passengers with or without a fully loaded trailer etc. It makes NO difference in the handling ......This is why - that Altimax CAN carry approx. 1450 lbs of weight ..... your Spyder weighs approx. 450 lbs at the rear ( un-loaded ) ..... So fully loaded it might add 200 lbs to the rear of the Spyder ........ What % of change is that compared to what the Altimax can carry ......it's really small ...................Mike

I am also running the General Altimax RT43 on the rear, I am running 26PSI. I had the rear tire ( Kenda ) changed at 5,824 miles. I now have 16,214 miles on the rear tire.

This is what my General RT 43 looked like after about 17,800 mile and run at 23 to 25 psi. That pressure was too high. I'll run my next tire, a Cooper CS5 Grand Touring at around 18. The Cooper specs look really good with one of the deepest treads around.

    WhoooHoooo! Happy camper here!
New tire mounted by the CanAm dealer and it is amazing how great it looks.
I was surprised the cost quoted was one hour labor to change the tire but because we were doing a service and oil change it was alot cheaper.
