Default What do like about your Spyder

I am one month in with my 2013 Spyder ST after 40 years of 2 wheels. What is it you like about your Spyder?

I have put nearly 2000 miles on the Spyder in the last 28 days. While it took a little getting used to, I am very comfortable on the bike now. When I first got the Spyder, I thought that there was no way I could take curves and corners like I used to on my motorcycle. I now find myself speeding up through the curves just because I can. It holds true to the road and I find it exhilarating.

After 40 years on a motorcycle, I still love to ride. However, I had stopped riding, just to ride. If I had somewhere to go I would often take the bike. Now that I have the spyder, I get excited when I can find a reason to ride it. I go out and ride, just to be on the Spyder. I once again look for any reason to ride. In fact, last weekend started out at 36 degrees. I took the Spyder on a 250 mile ride. It did warm up through out the day and was very pleasant by the time I got home.

I had a Yamaha venture and I also rode a 1900 CC Yamaha roadliner. I worried about the 998 being underpowered and the vibration that would accompany it. I have become very impressed with this engine and have grown accostomed to the high reving nature. It is a lot of fun and more powerful than I expected.

It is a truly unique ride and feel and more fun than I imagined. Very happy to be on a Spyder.

What do you like about yours? Just curious.

    Default Nice recap...👍

I love everything about it... well the nanny can be fussy but there are ways around her. I rode two wheelers for some 60 years and regret not having gone to the spyder the day it came out.. I never compare it to two wheelers as it is a different Ryde altogether. You will also find that these machine know no shortcuts home...

I still love riding my dirt bike and street bikes. But riding a Spyder is apples to oranges. I know that I can rail corners with abandon because I'm not worrying about sand, the nanny will take care of over exuberance. Plus, with a top case, side cases and a frunk, we can carry lots of luggage for overnighters unlike our sport bikes. It doesn't give me the sense of flying like a leaning bike, but I compromise on the fun factor knowing the Spyder's practicality and that it still outperforms most cruisers.

I like it when I'm in a town or city, and waiting at a stop light or on traffic, I don't have to balance anything and with the paddle shift and automatic tranny, I can crawl along and it's pretty much effortless. Now if I can just put a big ol' fan in the wife's hands so she can keep me cool when we're stopped, I would have it made! Mac

This is said real well about stopping at a red light and in traffic. I jump on my Spyder for just short trips more than I ever did on my Gold Wing's because you don't have to hold it up when you stop. I do ride a lone so I don't have someone to hold the fan. I like everything about the Spyder. There is only one thing and it is no big deal. I wish you could just turn the key on and start it, not have to wait and push the one button on the handle bar. No big deal.

I don't have to worry about dumping it over when I'm at a stop light or when I'm in the Costco parking lot. The frunk is large enough I can stuff a bouquet of flowers in it for my wife without crushing them. My wife also feels much safer and more comfortable as a passenger. My knees are in such bad shape now that getting on and off a 2 wheeler is painful and near impossible. The spyder has steps instead of kickstand. From the frunk to the trunk the spyder has some very nice features, which all together make it pleasurable machine. The ride is comfy and you meet the nicest people on a .............

I've read here where if you do an ECU remap the bike will start as soon as you turn the key on.

    Default Back out there

I ended up with severe balance problems when I was 39 ( inner ear) and lost normal balance for life . Although I have regained my ability to walk, work etc driving a 2 wheeled bike anymore was pretty much over with , at least safely for my thinking . The Spyder gave me the ability and desire to again do what I have loved my entire life since about 10 years old ( motorcycles and snowmobiles) ... so ya 👍... I’m very happy to have the opportunity to Ryde

They are a different ride from two wheels. Had five so far and pretty much like everything about them.

I still like riding on two once in awhile. It's hard to get that out of the blood for some of us.

The small "glitches" have all been overcome for me. No rants needed.

I love everything about my 2016 RTS but I don't agree with one thing I keep hearing. To me, once moving, my Spyder feels like a motorcycle and I love it. The biggest difference is the steering. I get the same feeling of freedom and wind in my face (when I lower the windshield).

However, my Spyder is MUCH more comfortable and has MANY advantages over regular motorcycles. Like I said, I LOVE IT!!! By the way, I also love the Pearl White color. I have universal praise for how classy it looks.
