    Default 2011 RT Throttle Bodies

I haven't heard much about 2011 RT owners replacing Throttle Bodies lately. Has that issue finally stopped occuring? For awhile, owners were relpaceing 3, 4, even as many as 5 throttle bodies on the same bike. What was the final fix.

Had it done on mine last August. Since there was a known issue, the local dealer put in a case on it and it was treated like warranty issue. I have since traded it in on a 2017.

I am also assuming you had al the updates?
My understanding is that BRP changed something to do with the TB's that was pushed out in a update.

We replaced ours within 6 months of owning it, 2011 RTS. Haven't had an issue since.

I was looking at the parts book and found the Position Sensor is now available as a separate unit for about $75. No longer do we have to pay $800 for the entire assembly.

Yes it had all the software updates done in July 2013. I bought it used and it never saw the dealer till I got it. My understanding is the 2011 has had no updates since then.

I will say this though. My 2011 was built late 2011 so the TB change that people talk about on 2012's may have been in mine.

We haven't taken ours to the dealer either since then....until this last trip home, our center gauge cluster went out. And when they were troubleshooting it, they said there were 2 updates behind. So I guess 2 updates in 5 years isn't that bad.

Might have to check then. Mine went in for a "set screw in the engine" warranty service 2 years ago. No updates then so they said. Since then I have been doing my own service so it has not been back. Now you have me curious if there has been any updates for code since mid 2015. I will call with the VIN and see if I can get them to tell me if I have any. Thanks.

I don't believe there were updated codes for the TB's. The mech. told me that one was for the center display. Not sure wat the other one was for? If you find anything out let me know.

I go and pick up the spyder today after they replaced the center console display....can't wait to see that bill....$1k+

I had a lady in Vegas call me last week about the used 11 RT that she had recently purchased, she was having throttle body issues on it. Dealer replaced it for her and now she is having other issues. I think the dealer is going to buy the unit back from her.

Can the TPS cause a p0174 code? Replaced everything else, don't know what else to do. Doesn't seem like BRP or the dealer knows either, all they want to do is keep throwing parts at it in the hopes that takes care of it. I was thinking throttle body issues, but not getting the throttle body code, just the p0174. Thanks

The TPS will not cause a P0174. You are running lean on bank 2. Most likely you have a vacuum leak. Check hoses, gaskets, and O-rings. With the engine running, spray some carburetor cleaner near potential leaks. When the rpm's change, you found the leak.

Cheap Cycle Parts. Look for the Throttle Body drawing.

Actually, all the parts houses use the same reference. I have seen it in several places. Cheap Cycle Parts had the best price, but you must sign in as a member.

    Hi there,

We encourage you to stay in touch with your dealer as we have noted they have an open case with our Technical Department who are assisting them with this.

    Grandpot,

Thanks for the reply, all the things you mentioned haven been checked a few times now. The vacuum hoses have been replaced, the boot on throttle body has been checked a couple times as well as the carburetor cleaner test. They haven't found any leaks. They latest now is they have switched the fuel injectors around to see what happens. This was at BRP suggestion. It starts off running ok when I first pick it up then by the time it has 100 miles or less on it, the check engine comes on with the p0174 code. It also has a new gear position sensor, plugs and wires, canister and purge valve. Not sure when the list for what can cause this code will be exhausted.

I am not sure of the purpose of this reply. I have been in contact with the dealer every two weeks for almost a year now. I have emailed BRP twice, still not fixed!

Thanks I will check them out. I contacted someone Friday that had the drawing of the throttle body with the individual parts listed, but not the TPS. He said he didn't think it could be purchased separately though.
