Summer is coming, vented boot options

I've been checking into vented boots/shoes and narrowed down my search to the Alpinestars SP-1 and the Alpinestars SMX-1. I currently have Alpinestars Newland Gortex boots which are great, just looking for something a bit lighter and vented for warmer/hotter weather. Let the opinions fly.

I'm sure you'll get some good info.
I know a couple guys who use Firstgear mesh boots and say good things about them. No first hand experience though.
Here in FL you often see flip flops and occasionally Crocs which offer a bit more big toe protection.
Seem to be much cheaper than boots.
