USB connection
In Sept of 17 I traded my 2012 RTS for a new 2017 RTS. The new one has a USB connection to the sound system, the devices I would use to connect to this use the same cable for charging the device such as my Iphone. Does anybody know if this connection also charges the device while it is in use?

It should. I just looked at my service manual and there is 5 volts on the plug. Might not charge real fast thou. I haven't tried. I've just been putting USB drives on it that are loaded with music files.

It works to charge my IPhone on our 2016 F3L. Not very fast though. It gave me some kind of over charge message when I tried to charge my SENA headset though.

Did you just save the files to a thumb drive and are they saved an MP3 files? Do they just start playing on their own? I may just have to experiment with this. I have the Sirrius XM app on my phone and have used that, but was always afraid of running my battery down, I have never gone very far with it hooked up.

Play music and keeps charge
I play music thru my iPhone with the USB plug from the bike. It does OK keeping it charged unless I decide to also use the phone for navigation - which drains the battery during the process.

Yes, MP3 files. Drive has to be fat32 format otherwise the radio won't recognize it. Hit the mode button to get to the radio then push set until you get to the usb setting. I think that's it.
