Need help with a fastener.
I have a 2008 spyder. The plastic panels attach with a torx head screw into a metal fastener. I'm looking for a fastener which is similar, but only one sided. This is for locking a sheet metal screw in place. I just need to know the name of the fastener. It's not for the spyder.

Not sure....
Not sure but most fastener company online like "Dorman" carry a variety of them. I used the rivet on type but it depens on where it is going to be used. I also find a good selection at home depot in the specialty section. Auto parts may also have something to help you....

So you need a blind sheet metal fastener where you only have access from the front. Can it be a bolt? There are blind nuts and jack nuts for that.

... Motorcycles are kind of like Baskin Robbins... You're looking at 31 flavors of ice cream, don't you kind of want to know what they all taste like?...

I’ve worked with What are called “tinnerman“ nuts which are clip on type with a threaded center hole. Also the left side of my ST uses a twist off type of attachment. You’d have to check the BRP for those parts.
-
Also, if you check out the belly pan for Goldwings, you’ll see a twist on fastener. For the life of me I can’t remember what they’re called.

If it's like the fasteners for the oil tank panel on a GS, they're DZUS fasteners, they need an anchor that fits.

That's what I'm talking about, tinnerman clips. The ones I'm used to don't clip on.

Are you looking for Dzus fasteners?

Aircraft Spruce should carry them.

Yes that's it! Dzus nuts are used on the belly pan! Thanks! Different to tinnerman nuts.
-
I've seen some RS/GS bikes converted over to DZUS fasteners: it's pretty darn slick!

They probably won't know them by the name Tinnerman clips. Ask for spring nuts. https://www.lowes.com/pl/Spring-nuts...are/4294710807
