    Default another rt question

the dealer tag which was in the trunk indicates that the rt-s has a light in the front storage area and a switch on the dash to open the front storage when the machine is one...I do have the switch but it doesn't seem to do anything and I see no light.....?

The switch on the console just unlocks the front trunk. You still need to reach down and open it manually.
The factory supplied light may be there, but it's extremely lame and can often be completely covered by the liner.
If it ain't broke, don't break it.

And the switch was so problematic that they eventually dropped it. I've learned how to fiddle (adjust) the switch actuator finally to get mine to work from the switch at least 60 to 70 % of the time. It works using the key method 100% of the time. And the light must be at least 1 w or lumen whichever is less..<G>. I've learned to carry a RayoVac headlamp in my Frunk organizer that I can grab as soon as I open it if I need to "work" in there. I've also got a small penlight type flashlight velcro'd to the liner pointing down into the bottom of the frunk, it's 100 times brighter than the factory light.

Post #3 answers your questions. The "frunk" release switch will work only when the engine is running. A push on the switch and you should hear a click. You have to manually open the frunk though.

I am one of the few that like that feature. My 2014 does not have it.

The light--use a flashlight if you need to illuminate the frunk.

Yes the light is on the front wall of the Frunk down from the front edge there's a small cut out in the liner to allow the light to shine through the liner into the bottom of the frunk. If you're in front of the bike it's on your right when you're looking down into the frunk. Sometimes the material below the cutout flexes out into the frunk and blocks the light from shining into the frunk.

The “frunk” release switch only works when the key is on. The engine doesn’t need to be running.

the video was spot on....switch worked as shown and found the light....now the issue is how to bend/adjust the switch so contact is made and it functions as intended.

& bend Carefully. I have worked with those switches on other applications & they do not twist or bend well suggest hemostats maybe a backup pair , didn't look like much room to work with. Hopefully some RT owners can chime in & or try pm finless

Not a fix you will find in the manual....but I wedged a piece of rolled up paper towel into the bracket to depress the switch .....it works

    Default Switch

Our 2011 switch got off center once and had to open it with the key. It's really not that hard to bend the switch lever back in place. It only bends back and forth not side to side. Slamming the lid down is what get it out of shape. I usually let it down easy and then press it down till it latches.
