Get it in to your dealer. Check GPS sensor.

As to the battery light, first check for loose or corroded battery connections.

i just turned 10,000 miles yesterday, and was thinking how lucky i was to get a trouble free spyder for an early model, #459, at 10,020 miles my steering stuck and kept feeling strange, almost like it had assist at speed, at low speed it was cutting in and out and steering like it had a mind of it's own, i pulled the fuse under the seat and rode the rest of the day like that, will drive it like that until i get it to the dealer, i hope their knowledgable about the steering problems, I'm tempted to replace the gps sensor myself except it's still under warranty and may need to be hooked up to the buds computer, i hate the thought of any body working on it but me.

I had that for a while. Read somewhere here that a loose ground caused someones steering to feel like it is sticking and releasing. I had tried to attach a ground wire to the terminal under the seat just in front of the fuses. It turned but I didn't think it loosened b/c I discovered it has a nut underneath. After reading the post, I got about a half turn on it to retighten and my steering stickiness went away. Seems likes a loose ground would cause more than that, but it worked for me.

thanks, you're right, and such an easy thing to do, i know all about ground problems and corrosion, i have a boat! A bad ground can do funny things to an electrical system, especially one like the spyder has

    I have had the intermittent steering problem four times;
    1) changed PS unit- no help
    2) tightened ground wire under seat- worked well for 10K miles
    3) replaced GPS- worked well for 3-4 K miles
    4) replaced PS unit- the ones they are making now are superior although according to BRp they are the same- good for 2k miles so far

    Good luck

Just got mine back from the shop.
Same symptoms that you are explaining, According to the shop there has been a recall on a shifting censor that is causing electrical interference with the power steering, I know it sounds crazy but they replaced it & knock on wood its been good for 800 miles now!!

as for the battery lite it came on a couple of times so I had them check as well, Just loose ground wire.

    Hope this helps!

    Default Steering

Thanks to all for the help.

I have about 2400 miles on it, it is a SM 2008 andis bee n working beautiful, this just started a few days age. I installed a Hindle muffler from BRP and a passemger back rest.

I do not know if the muffler had anything to do with it, but just asking the experts like you guyd and see if I can do something about it without having to drive 45 miles to dealer.

I will check the battery and see if there are any loose cables.

I really apreciate you guys help.

    Thanks

    Guys,

I cleaned the battery post and the steering sticking is gone so far.

    Can anyone tell me why?
