    Default Vented Windshield on RT

For those of you that have a vented windshield on your bike, what is your honest opinion of it. Does it annoy you that it blocks your view somewhat? When it rains, does the rain come through it? Does it totally close when you don't want ANY air? Thinking of getting one (BRP brand), and not sure I will like it>
Also, what is the normal listed price of one of these, or what did your cost, so I can see what kind of a deal I am getting.
    Thanks

I have an F4 Customs, tall wide vented shield.
They use the "Honda GL" vent, the industry standard.
    Don't know what BRP uses.
If you are used to looking through your windshield, instead of OVER, which is where your eyes belong,
Then maybe it will hinder your vision.
My vent closes in positively detented steps, all the way to fully closed..
The "right" rain will not be held back by anything. Because of the vent and shutter angles
no direct rainfall comes through the vent.
I don't remember what I paid, but I do remember, every time I ride, that it was worth it.

I would call F4 and talk to them instead of the phone Steve....you don't need to buy one from them, but will answer your questions I think....about the price, I agree with 4Marie, it is worth it every time you ride.

I have a Vent on F4 windshield. It does not block my view, but I am always looking into the distance not down at the road right in front of the bike. I think it is a fantastic option that works as advertised

Default Vented by BRP on mine

And happy with it!! Buffeting is gone! Can lower it a bit to get more air. Perfect for me. 15 RTS, 5-10. A little rain can get thru, but not an issue.

    Smile BRP vented shield

I have the BRP vented shield. I look over it when it's mostly all the way down. A vented shield moves the turbulent air flow over your head ( passenger also) by filling up the bubble of calm air behind the shield. Rain doesn't come in---BTW----- Rain X for plastic is your friend. Can't recall the cost but not inexpensive.

One of the many things that should have come from the factory as OEM. Goldwings came with vented shield for the most part.

I have the F4 wide and tall with vent, around $400 I think. I like the vent as it brings air through that doesn't come around the wide shield. The one downside, the vent keeps me from being able to carry my Smokey Bear mascot on the dash. The vent interferes with his hat!

    Default BRP vented shield

I like it, look over it. It closes well and have no real rain issue. Think I paid list minus 20 %.

I had the BRP vented windshield on my 10 & 13 and it was okay. When they cut out the two holes on the 14 I decided not to get the vented windshield and just went with the stock one. I never regretted it, the stock shield on the 14 and newer is great.

What two holes. I ended up buying it, but it feels like it is shorter than the stock one. May be me. It is the 25" one according to the BRP catalog the dealer had. How tall is the stock one? I held the new one up against the original one on the bike and they looked the same. I would measure the old one, but I could not carry it home on the bike, so have to go back next week and get it with the car.

My vented was smaller than the stock shield. That was another reason I bought the vented shield.

Default F4 Customs Windshield for the RT

The vent is a nice option to reduce back preasure and to get more air on a hot day. As to the rain getting through their is very little as the vent has a flipper that closes when you don't want the air. We use the Honda GL 1800 OEM vent and they really hold up well.
Give us a call if we can help.
Keep in mind the F4 Customs windshield sheds rain, cleans with paper towels and any glass cleaner, is highly scratch resistant and you can purchase a clear or tint.
Our shields also come in standard width or you can get them 5" wider to move the air around you better.

I cut the stock shield and inserted the Honda GL vent at just below eye level. It works wonderfully. Fully open it vents air to my shoulders and helmet. Fully closed it doesn't flow air. Has never been a problem with sight obstruction as I seem to be able to look "through it" when the shield is raised.
I only use the shield 3 months of the year, rest of the time I use the CalSci tinted shortie.
