    Default Rear caliper "shim"?

I noticed something odd when I removed my rear caliper to get the tire replaced. Between the caliper and the mounting plate, there was a very thin washer on the bottom bolt only between the two parts.

Looking at the loctite residue, it was clearly there on that bolt only.

    Any idea what or why?

Needs to be put back in at the same place it came out of. It's in there to make sure caliper is square and running true to the rotor. I had left one out one time and the caliper was rubbing the rotor.

Exactly right! Put it back. Normally, front bolt, between the caliper and it’s Mount. Look close, you can see the imprint. Or, put it back together without, and use a feeler gauge to know where it goes.

Thanks much! I was kinda thinking the same idea in the back of my head, but wasn’t certain. It definitely came off the bottom due to the residue pattern.
