Default I searched for info about replacing battery...

... on my 2010 RT and have watched video... when I replace the battery do I need to do anything with the nanny/electronics? Or can I just remove and replace the battery and then just fire it up and RYDE?!?

When I replaced mine on my 2010, I just replaced the battery. Did not have to mess with the nanny. I just needed to reset the clock.

Remember, when removing the old battery disconnect the negative cable first, and when installing the new battery connect the negative cable last.

And make sure that your new battery has a full charge BEFORE installing it.

Default UPDATE: Don't you love it when...

...you get some good news?? Removed the battery today (2010 RT) and took it to Advance Auto. Had guy check it out... it's a GOOD BATTERY showing all the right numbers. Didn't have to buy a new one. Put battery back in (followed tips in this thread) and added cable for new heated vest. Checked to be sure vest was heating before reinstalling tupperware... Buttoned everything up and started byke to be sure it runs... it does... Ready for our trip to Arkansas and back - about 2000 miles with ryding while we are there. I appreciate the tips and advice everyone!

The terminals on our Batteries are notorious for coming loose ...... I have always put STAR washers ( with the teeth inside ) on the bolts before tightening them .... they will NEVER get loose by themselves ...... Mike

You didn't mention charging it up.
After all of the messing around, that might be a very good idea.

...to get that battery charged... and then trickle charge while sitting and waiting for going to AR.

Surely that is not the original battery. If by chance it is I would change it regardless of the readings. You would be way overdue.

Depending on several variables, the rule in battery testing and life is:

if the battery tests bad, it is bad.

If it test good, it could still be bad.

Battery testing is not a perfect science. Knowledge of it's history is critical for estimating the amount of life left in it. If it has lived on a tender when not in use, it will probably last much longer than one that wasn't. If it was dropped or in an accident, that should be taken into account. If it was ever allowed to go completely dead, that is not good either. Many variables. If you want to be reasonably sure you won't have any issues, get the new battery. It can save a lot of grief.
