$200.00 to register for a rally is a little steep for my wife and I , think we'll pass on it.

Appreciate that but if you look at 3 meals included and the other goodies it is pretty darn good deal! We are not your average Rally! We are a cut above!

I'm sure you guys put on a great rally and there is some great rides in that part of the country but just saying that buy the time we register and pay for the rooms we're looking at nearly $500.00, I'm sure that if the rate was lower there would be more folks interested in coming, I still work full time but many Spyder riders are retired and living on fixed incomes and by the time you figure in fuel and lodging just to get to the rally your reaching up to a number that excludes a group of riders. My wife and I usually pull a pop up trailer to help defray the cost of our trips, but once you get to the rally's it's more fun to stay in the host hotel and hang out with the group, Just saying that if the cost was more affordable more riders may come. Last year we made the ride to Red Rock and had a blast, all the folks that volunteer to put these shows on put there heart and soul into them because they love the riding so much and want to share.

Well stated easy! I can assure that this event unlike so many others is not a money maker for us, and as a committee member I pay the same price as anyone's else would ( of course my gas is a little less in that I am only an hour and a half away). We were able to drop the room rates to assist with some of the costs, and we do provide three meals through the week, which is mire than most. We hope that this is not an obstacle to most people out there, and everyone has to decide for themselves. As a consumer, I find the price reasonable, for the experience offered. Thanks so much for your input and hope you can make it down here someday!

Sorry you won't be there. But ------- $200 is for 2 people, and 6 meals, a small bunch of raffle tickets ( we won both years with good prizes each year), lots of raffle prizes, 2 t-shirts ( oh boy), and lots of comradery. Made new friends too.

I have always tried to save up before purchasing a large item. ( Am not in debt to anyone ). Thusly it's about $0.75 a day till the rally.

    Hope you change your mind.

Thanks Kaos. I might add that for 2018 we are including the patch, the pin the rocker and more. These were ala carte last year. Hope to see as many of you as can make it to Sunny, warm California next September!

My wife and I went to the 2017 Rally and enjoyed it very much. Value is always relative, but you have to think what you are getting for the two hundred bucks. That's three days of entertainment plus three meals. That's a better deal than the 2017 rally. Compare it to Disneyland or Universal Studios here in So Cal, Universal is between 106.00 and 115.00 per day per person, plus parking (which is not cheap), Disneyland is 97.00 a person during the week and 110.00 on Fridays thru Mondays plus parking. Plus expensive meals, plus hotel rooms in So Cal are more expensive than the ones for the rally as well. Objectively it's a large chunk of change, but we've got almost a year to save it up. It all boils down to what you value. My wife and I are retired and living on a fixed income, but we save money for vacations, the rally will just be the first stop on a trip up to Vancouver B.C and back in our motor home towing our Spyder for sightseeing along the way. We will spend far more on gas alone than we will spend on the rally (a motor home uses somewhere around fifty gallons of gas a day; that's about $150.00 at California prices. You have to pay for what you want. If someone wants to go to the rally, they could save $75.00 a month for the next eight months, that would give them $600.00; that would pay for the rally, room and meals for two pretty easily. I just noticed that you pull a pop-up trailer, the location is building a RV park on the grounds, and the rates are significally cheaper than the hotel. I just ran the numbers on the website, it would cost you $111.26 for a campsite for the three days. That's retail, I don't know if the room discount would apply to the RV Park or not.

It does get a little pricey.

Any way to lower the cost of the trip overall is helpful. I shared a room last year staying at the host hotel, which made my overall cost more affordable. Staying at the host hotel was nice in that it was convenient to be able to access the room so easily, and not have to drive back to another place in the evening, but that's about it as far as advantages to me. Looking forward, If we had a camper we'd definitely forgo the host hotel because of the expense aspect.

I'm honestly not sure what I'd be getting for the $200 registration fee for my wife and I to attend. I think I'd prefer the dinners, etc being a la carte so I have more control over what we spend during that time. We're also in the 'retired, living on a fixed income' group.

Another aspect is having to sign up so early. Life has a way of throwing you curves so planning that far ahead is not something we normally do.

Not complaining or criticizing or saying we're not going. We would like to, and probably will, but won't sign up until the last minute.

Personally since I do not see the economies of scale, plus it is not at a fairground, I think the price is reasonable and plan on signing up.

I look forward to meeting everybody.

Question about lodging. When do things start on the first day and end on the last day? Just trying to figure out how many days of lodging I want to get.

    Thanks.

Having been to both the 2016, and 2017 Rally's, and having to get there from Kamloops B.C. Canada, AND having to pay the exchange rate for the whole trip, I can assure you the value is well worth it.....

    See you in Sept.

2017 rally was my first. Missed the former Spyders In the Redwoods, so have nothing to compare it to. But, I really enjoyed the experience, including the people and rydes. "Worth" and "Value" are subjective terms, but to me it was good value and worth time and $$ spent, my earlier post notwithstanding.

Tuesday is usually registration day. There will be a couple of rydes planned for that day as early arriving folks get checked in that can headout on rydes lead by Road Captains or run their own self lead rydes. Ther is usually a welcome reception on Tuesday and food will be provided. Usually happens around 6ish. The last night on Thursday we host a dinner for all and have many many raffle prizes. Friday morning people leave as they please with a typical checkout Time of 11ish. Wednesday and Thursday during the day, there will be rydes, all day! Road Captain lead, or self lead with maps available! We will be arriving on Sunday as organizers, many arrive Monday night, and some plan arrival sometime after lunch.

BTW Pete, you don't have to sign up for the Rally this early, we will give you plenty of notice when the registration will close, but the Hotel Rooms go pretty quickly! So make your hotel reservation, and cancel if your life changes, you can register for the rally later in the year!

Thumbs up NorCal Spyder Rally 2018

This will be our first NorCal Spyder Rally, having missed the 2017 rally. We are actually coming down several days early through Nevada to the Sonora area to visit Yosemite and a few places that we wanted to see as well as do a few of the rides in that area before traveling up to Oroville on Monday before the rally. We figure that this will be our big trip of the year and planned for it. The rate at the host hotel was good, and the extra time sorta makes up for last year. We don't have that many events in the Northwest, most are held More to the East except for Deadwood. Not saying we would do this yearly but at least once is in order. See everyone there!

Is there anything else on the schedule besides rides? That is all that appears when you click on days.

Ya, I'm hoping for bike judging and maybe bike games. Talks about bluetooth communication, group riding and how to check your bike. (error codes, oil, coolant etc.)

This is what we have found that people want to do at an event of this type. We have scheduled a meet and greet on Tuesday evening, a group breakfast on Wednesday, and a group Dinner on Thursday. There will be drawings on Tuesday and Thursday evening. There will be vendors to visit all week so you can have your Spyder Squared-Away or have other FARKLES installed on your machine. Oh and there will be bowling! ......and a surprise! It has been our experience that when people come to an event like this, they want to ryde parts of the country they have not been too before. So most of the"events" are just that RYDES!
