Shoe polish on ST finish
OK, I have this nice '13 ST L and I am having a problem. My wife wears these nice black leather riding boots. But the heels of her boots have rubbed themselves of the side panels and the front of the saddle bags. None of the cleaners or polishes I use or have used have gotten these black boot stains off the white finish. Any of you have or had the same problem? Any suggestions as to a remedy? I am afraid to use anything that is to aggressive.
I am really looking for a permanent solution as we both wear riding boots and do not plan on changing. Am willing to try different things.

I had the same problem with my wife. The easist way I found to get it off was an old bottle of Turtle Wax. It may not be the best wax by far but it does do a pretty good job of cleaning tar and stuff off of a vehicle without any damage.

I use Meguiar's Deep Crystal Carnauba Wax with good results.

Scuffs on ST
Have two solutions go to Home Depot or Lowes and look for a product called Gel Gloss (used for cleaning fiberglass tubs and showers) works excellent for scratches and paint scuffs also. Second is to look for clear duct tape and put a piece where scuffs appear, sort of like a protector for the paint, gets scuffed put new piece on. I use this on the panel in front of the brake on my RT, toe of shoe hits panel.

Have your tried WD-40? Spray on, let it set a bit and wipe off. May take a few apps, but I believe it might work.

You can protect from scuffs with 3M Stone guard clear film, or 3M Paint Defender spray film - works great without harming the finish below.

Thanks for the suggestions.
Thanks for the suggestions. I have some WD-40 so I'll start there. I also have some various waxes that I haven't used in a long time. If the WD doesn't work, I can wash it off and start down the list. I'll bet at least one of these will solve my problem. I also have a couple of tennis balls that I use under the windshield wipers. I knew at least one of you must have had the same problem.

This applies to hardwood floors for boot scuff marks. Take tennis ball and rub the spot really hard in circular motion. It works great for hardwood floors. May apply to Spyder panels as well. Give it a try.

shoe polish on saddlebags
Someone used to sell a rubber or plastic piece that was attached to the saddle bag where the scuff marks happen.

Harley Davidson offers a couple cut pieces that fit varied locations. I bought a front fender piece and cut it to fit behind each wheel of my Ram truck. Bet you could do the same thing once you polish the scuffs off using a glaze that has a fine abrasive properties, between wax & rubbing compound.

couple things I have done that has worked:
1. wd40 and let it soak in a bit....then rub soft to hard in circles
2. brake cleaner on a rag....dab then rub
3. goo be gone ....worked quite nice
4. heat it up a bit with a hair dryer, then use the wd40 on a rag
hope something work then I would put clear protective tape where her boots hit.
