Took her out on about 100 mile ride on some back roads so she could get used it.
I did the same thing with my wife. We started out in a subdivision going up and down cul-de-sacs practicing starting, stoping, and turns / u-turns just getting use to it. Then advanced to slow back roads gradually advancing to roads with higher speeds as he comfort level grew. On her 5th day of riding it, we did 306 miles out to the Blue Ridge Parkway and on some other curvy mountain roads. She was hanging right with me and a friend of mine. That was her longest ride to date, but other than 108 miles the first day out, all of her other 4 rides have been over 200 miles. Comfort level comes with experience. For my wife the biggest hurdle was just getting to where she trusted the bike. She was worried that she was going to tip it over in a curve or not be able to stop fast enough. Once she realized that the bikes capabilities will easily surpass anything she will ever ask it to do, her actual riding ability started to show.
She was the same way on her ATV when she first got it. Once she started trusting the bike, she was ripping up the trails with the best of them!
