    Default My mods

Since I got my paint touch-up done and my Spyder is looking just about the way I want it, I decided to get some pictures of it in here. I had an idea in my head and how it was going to look was confirmed by lamonster's paint job. Since Deb's Bushtec was getting recoated in gloss black, it was the perfect opportunity for part of my paint to get done.

I got my CB antenna mounted the same as what Nexus and SpyderDeb had done.

Retread sent me this cool little cross and I decided to mount it on my Evo III at the left hand guard.

Got the Vista Cruise mounted a while back thanks to ataDudes instructions.

A shot of the Russell Day Long seat.

My stock exhaust had major paint flaking so I pulled it, removed the bracket, sanded it down and recoated it with a high temp (1500 degree) paint. Gives it a slightly different look.

Sweet, Brian. I notice you fixed up the pipe too. Looks great!

Oops. I just noticed the narrative about the high-temp paint. That is excellent.

The more Spyders I see with the gloss black fenders, the more I like the look. It is so darned sharp! I am torn about the reduced visibility, but there is no denying that they add a lot of elegance up front. Well done BJT!

Looks like SOMEBODY got all spruced up to meet Jay!

(BTW I don't remember if anybody posted this article by Jay, telling of his fascination with three-wheelers..)

    Get me an autograph, Brian?

I got the black 3" NMN risers installed today. They really make turning easier. I also got 2 ram mount ball ends from NMN that fit the risers. That made it so I could get my GPS back where I like it, by the left handgrip, while keeping my J&M CB mounted on the clutch bracket. I also took off the rear fender and put a motorcycle fender on instead. During that mod, I swapped out the left fender bracket from my Spyder to dltang's as her left fender bracket got dinged up by a large pothole and the antenna bracket. When we got the bracket off, we found one of the tabs that holds the bracket to the swingarm of her Spyder was broken off so I welded it back on and got her fender bracket re-installed. I ended up doing quite a bit of cutting down of the motorcycle fender to get it to the size I wanted and to have it fit as I wanted. I think the Spyder looks good with a much smaller rear fender. Unfortunately, I have no pictures for tonight as I'm whipped after working on Spyders all day long. Tomorrow, I'll get some pics put together and hopefully get the Evoluzione sway bar installed that I confiscated from dltang.

Dang! I wish I knew you were ditching the rear fender...I would have bought the license plate reflector assembly from you! BTW...you were right on the Cleveland banner run...I had to buy the whole assembly instead of just the reflector housing. Ugh. Can't wait to see the pics.

Number Two: 2012 RT-S Limited (the poop colored RT) I still have Number One, but Some Girl made me buy Number Two...

I was thinking about your light tonight as I was removing the rear fender but I wasn't reasonably sure it would work until about 9pm tonight. Even now, I'm not 100% satisfied. If I can't tweak it in, I'll have to put my stock fender back on so I kinda need to keep that reflector / light lens.

I think it looks great. Much more sleek than the yellow wheel fenders. JMHO

Got the Evoluzione sway bar installed today. Not much to look at but I snapped a few pics anyways.

I hope I can get it all back together before I go to work tomorrow. I need to buy a few more grease zerks at the auto parts store tomorrow before I can button it up.

    Default License plate relocated

I've been playing with a different license plate mount since I removed my rear fender. I was trying to keep it in the center of the Spyder to assure no legal issues while traveling in other states but that just wasn't working out for me. I got a lighted plate frame from NoMagicNeon and made a bracket that holds the plate just over the left axle nut and mounts to two of the tabs on the swingarm that held the fender supports. I routed the original plate light wires under the swingarm, soldered them to the NMN plate frame wires, covered the solder joints with heat shrink tubing, drilled and tapped three holes for one hole plastic straps and also put on a few of the self stick zip tie mounts that hold the wire as I'd hate for the wire to come free and get damaged while out on the road. If the bracket holds up well, I'll be removing it this winter along with a few other Spyder components and sending them out for powder coating.

I designed the bracket to bring the plate higher and towards the back of the Spyder while keeping it horizontal so it was visible from both sides while riding. I think this covers me for plate mounting legality in all states.

Kumho Ecsta AST like lamonster had. I'd buy it again if we can find it. I think they changed the design on that tire and the new AST has a tread design that I wouldn't use on my Spyder.
