Default BRAND NEW 2017 F3 LIMITED LOST TUPPERWARE

Well, I am just sick! When I came back from my last ride, I removed the Tupperware to check the oil. I thought I had it on correctly, but when I got where I was going it was gone! Can you tell what that part is called so I can order one and who might have one? Thanks in advance for your help!

Try going to the dealer and leave the part about you checking the oil out. Say, THEY must not have put it on correctly.
Otherwise here is your cheapest source. http://www.powersportswarehouse.com/.../106283/106298 Type in the word FREE at checkout for free shipping. Need to know what color. looks like 1600A is your part

Or you could add a couple of the DZus shown below in strategic places on the panels....

(Yeah, I know the panel show as an example is on an RT, but the concept still applies! )

I just picked them up at the local Fasteners shop Joe, I think it was called 'Bob's Bits & Bolts' or something equally as dodgy; but Mike's right, get em off eBay, or your local Speed Gear/Accessories shop, Amazon, or maybe your nearest Hardware Store.... the only thing you should need is the name of the type of fastener you want - in my case, I went with DZus, but there are hundreds of other types & makes of 'Panel Fasteners' out there; pick one, fit one, problem solvered!

Did the same thing this summer. Now I am always doublechecking these panels. Powersports Warehouse is where I purchased the panel. They always have the best prices.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I think I will look at the DZus option or the fishing line. I know I am not the only one this has happened to, but it still stings!

A common issue. Techs do not seem to know the proper procedure for putting the panels on in such a way that they do not fall off.

My dealer does this every time its in the shop and on every Spyder. I gave up pointing out their glitch. Check list: When leaving dealer make sure all panels are properly attached.

Also a regular pre-ride inspection item now.

A new panel is not cheap, so an extra fix as mentioned is also a good idea.

... plus they will deny there is even a chance in H*LL that THEY did it ..... this is also a reason I stay FAR away from dealer Techs ....... Mike

I don't think there is anything wrong with the original design Except people do not properly attach them and check that they are secure?

Debbie, the guys are talking about using those on RTs. I'm not sure how you'd attach them on the F3. I was watching mine bounce around today and wondered if they'd go flying off.

Those look like the same type of hardware they use on the Harley Saddle bags to hold them on the bike

Fitting the DZus things is really quite simple & self evident to most once you've got them in your hand. Look at the pic I put up of the dismantled assembly - basically, you only need to drill a hole thru both panels in the right spot; slide the 'captive nut' bit over the edge of the lower panel so the hole & nut line up; put the DZus pin thru the top panel & add the washer to the inside projection of pin to stop it falling off; then fit & mate the panels; line the DZus pin up with the hole & nut assy in the panel below; & finally press & twist the keyed top of the DZus to positively lock the assy & panels together!

For the F3's - Take the removable panel OFF & look for an edge on the opening below - the lower 'slide-on' captive nut bit for the DZus will slide over any panel edge, so if you find one of those that lines up with somewhere appropriate on the upper panel that will let you drill a 1/4" dia (or whatever size is appropriate) thru both panels & push the DZus thru in such a way that it'll mate with the captive nut bit on the edge of the opening below & finally allow you to push & twist.... problem solved/panels positively locked together until you push & twist to unlock them.

It really isn't hard, & if you reckon it's beyond you (& some things just are! ) either get your Grandkids to do it (my Grandkids just roll their eyes & then take just a few seconds to do anything I can't work out!) or pay your local service bloke to do it - probably cost no more'n a 6 pack!

Once you see how Dzus fasteners work you will know they cant fail. The bouncing around you see is just the D-ring part that you grab and twist. That has no part in actually holding things together. Its just the part you hold when twisting, and that's normal. We used them for years on our race motorcycles to hold the bodywork on. believe me they do not fail at speed. I would only buy Dzus brand, they are the best by a mile.

So a little follow up on my lost part....Before seeing the previous post above about a cheaper place to get the access panel, I ordered one from the dealer. Went to pick it up yesterday and unwrapped it. After paying $175 for it, it came without the quarter turn latch. That part is 1.99. Geez BRP, are you kidding me???? So if anyone loses one, keep that in mind. Oh, and if you lose the left access panel and want to put it back to original, don't forget the little sticker that says safety cards (or whatever) for another $1.28.
