Vin number problems on my Spyder
I purchased a Spyder paddleshifter SE6 but when my insurance ran the vin, its coming up SM6. I told them that it was not right but they said that its what it is coming up as. I called the dealer and he said that the Can Am system shows my vin as and SE6. I am concerned that if anything should happen, my insurance would jip me out of the value of my Spyder and may cause problems if I ever want to sell. Asking forum members any advice about how to get this fixed or if I should even worry about it.

This isn't a problem: Your insurance company's records are just wrong.
If it ever came down to "Brass Tacks": they'd have no choice but to listen to what BRP tells them about the V.I.N.
(My Company had the same problem back in 2014. They didn't seem to know about the 1330 engine...)

I have used the same insurance for all 3 of my spyders. This is the first time this issue has come up. Thanks for your reply, I guess I wont worry about it.

When I was getting my F3T, I gave the VIN to my insurance agent and all he could see was F3 and F3S. I don't know if they've caught up yet.

I would drive the Spyder over to his/her office and let him decide what it is.

I have had similar inaccuracies with vehicles before and it has never been a problem. As long as your vin is right, I don't see a problem. Our Spyder is an RTS and they initially had it listed as a Limited but with the correct vin.

Try this....
Tell your insurance guy to give the vin to the dealer...any dealer and get the information.

I have a Yamaha Grizzly that shows up as a Yamaha Rhino side by side. VIN is correct. As long as the error they are making is in my favor, I'm good with it! Hahaha!

Are you SURE that listing it as a Rhino is in your favor???

As for the Rhino... from a replacement $ standpoint, yes. From a fun standpoint, no.

I had the same issue. It is a BRP issue. Their VIN identifies the type of trans in some way. My company had me bring them the bike and they took pics and filed them. All is well.

Yup, got my spyder in september last year & my insurance said it was a 998. I told them it was a 1330 & that they came out in 2014. They said their records needed updated. I should give them a call to make sure it's listed correctly.
