The headline is somewhat misleading.
Superchargers are NOT allowed on NASCAR cup cars.
And while the bodies might look much the same as production cars........the frame and engines bear little to NO resemblance.

I looked at a V-8 SS... nice car, but opted for the CTS-V with the LSA and stock supercharger.
2017 Can Am Commander Limited
2012 Cadillac CTS-V Black Diamond
2020 F3 Limited Magma Red (miss the 2011 Viper red)
2010 RT622 - Black

I quite assure you that there are a LOT of "fans of the sport" who know no such thing.

I see you are from New York........so I maybe would't necessarily expect you to fully understand this but..............
We are talking about stock car racing here.
If you have spent any time at all in the "cheap seats" at a NASCAR race track, you would have a better feel for why I say that a lot of fans "don't fully understand".
I will quit right there because to go into any more detail would not be "politically correct" even though true, and it seems like saying things like that these days can get you into trouble.

No really they aren't good examples. And thinking they are just proves my point.
Come on down to Talladega, just for instance.
Sit in about row 10.
If you have your shirt ON, are not covered with tats, don't have a mullet and don't spill more beer than you actually drink.......you look out of place.
But I'm not saying that is a BAD thing.
