    Unhappy Dead Spyder

Went to start my f3, turned on key went through start up procedure every thing looked good and when I hit the start button all power was lost! This happened when going to work so had to take car. Any thoughts as to cause would be appreciated. I will work on it tomorrow.

Try it all over again when you're not rushing anywhere

We have all been caught out with kill switch accidentally on, foot not on brake, etc

Might be something else like loose battery terminals, but I am a great believer in starting with the simple things first...

    Default Step one...!

Check all your battery cable connection and ground connections to the frame. Check battery condition could be only a surface charge. Without more info like mods additions or recent work done this is a start. If no go try jumping (if a car with the enhine off) or charge with a charger not a tender.

Maybe is a silly thing but ..... is it possible for someone to move the red emergency button?

My first thought, like others, was the kill switch.

My second thought was from my experience at a fuel stop when it would not restart,, as others have said, the battery terminals were loose.

As 'all power was lost' that sounds like everything went dead, display, the lot. So that's not the kill switch as everything looks normal but it just won't turn over if kill switch is hit by accident (done that enough times myself)

I would say that sounds like battery as the sudden drain of the starter kicking in dropped the voltage so low everything went dead.

That does NOT make all power go off.

As other said: Sounds like battery.... Voltage but no amps. Reminds me of what happens when a cell goes dead in a battery.

Default just went through this yesterday

with my 2010 RTSE5, Mine sounded just like the old starter solenoids that would just click and then everything went blank. I tried several ties with the same results. I put a regular battery charger on and charger for over an hour, tried to start with the charger still connected and charging and still got the same results.
My battery is only 1 year old so thought it could be the solenoid or the starter itself, however, long story short upon pulling the battery and recharging then load testing found the battery totally shot!!!!!!!!!!
I got 6 years out of the OEM battery and only 13 months out of the second one. I ride thr machine everyday as I have no other transportation down here in Florida. The battery gave no indication that it was failing. It started and ran great on Monday afternoon, parked it in the garage and on Tuesday morning the battery was a gonner!!!!!
Thankfully it was not the starter!!!!!!!!!

tested battery, showed 12.3 volts. took off both wires and cleaned them, reconnected and powered up and started beautifully.

    Year of your Spyder?
Do you do the services yourself?
Mileage when it did not start?

Trying to figure out causes of issues.

Do you do your own services? My dealer does everything and I'm "assuming" he checks, cleans and torx everything as per BRP recommendations. I hate "assuming" anything but the need is there as this is not a "regular" bike. My thoughts.
