I think the best key holder is the OEM key scabbard that comes with all Spyder keys. The Scabbard can either be mounted onto a key ring or simply be used to protect the key while out of the ignition and in a coat/pant packet. In my opinion, the Spyder ignition area is not a good location for a big key ring with a lot sorts of keys, gadgets, and toys. I think that it would also unnecessarily cause scratches to the panels and dash area.

Got one of these for each key and a "Insert Before Flight" fob. The fob is made of canvas material and won't scratch anything.

Sorry I didn't see this thread sooner but FYI the one works best for me is Keyport IMG_4712.jpg. IMG_0854.jpg Holds what I need for everyday use & all is easily operated single handily. https://www.mykeyport.com/
Additional info: 2013 & prior chips can be cloned & Keyport offers the chip & placement needed
2014 & later require other chip functions that they know & you will need to talk with them for better description & requirements

    Default key ring

The best I've found costs almost nothing. put a small regular key ring and made a paracord laynard so I can feel it in my pocket. Works fine, nothing to scratch the paint.

I agree. I keep mine on a key ring by itself and keep it in my pocket.

I used this method for my last two bikes.

But I am going to try Pierre's and Dave's holders on the new bike, and see which one works the best!

That always worked for me in the past...

I'm old school, and continue to use Lamont's IPS. I'm not sure he sells them anymore. I leave it right in the ignition; most people don't know what it is.

You remove it from the main key ring? I may even try the one at the far left.

Yup! I keep it on a Carabiner Clip, that hangs from a belt loop.

That pic. I'm referencing, whose key holder is that, and where might I find that hook and strap?

We were assured that it doesn't interfere with the DESS...
But it was a concern of mine also!

Same with me, and so far no problem with anyone even suspecting it's the ignition. Now, with that said, if I'm on a trip and staying in a hotel/motel, I take the key out at night.

    I have a 2008GS. I don't think I remember that being a problem with the early spyders.

I'm curious. Do you say that b/c of how much metal is being used? If that's the case, Lamont's IPS had much more metal. I'm wondering if that's why he doesn't sell them anymore, unless I missed them on his site.

    Default From Motorcycle Dave

All the others are great but some are very costly
$$$$$$$$$ 39.95 is a bit much for some people
    mine are $9.95
Ask those that have them they work great and do not
give you trouble when in the ignition the key will fully engage
    Call me to get yours.
