2008 Spyder - H7 Halogen Bulbs
Hi folks,
One supplier is telling me that these bulbs will fit with no mods at all:
https://www.powerbulbs.com/us/produc...on-130-h7-twin
Can anyone confirm this? Just looking for a '2nd opinion' before buying.
Just want to get something that I can merely change out with none of the 'cut here' or ' remove this' type of work/effort.
Thanks for your thoughts,
Jerry Baumchen

I think where the problems comes in when trying to install the led bulbs. These should fit right in being they are a H7 bulb. Just use gloves and don't touch the bulbs with the bare hand.

Jerry,
They are H7 incandescents. So they don't have transformers or power supply like HIDs or LEDs, that will cause additional work or cutting. The transformers mount on the back or are attached by wire. These should be a straight swap. The issue is replacing the headlights, period. Having read several strings, and replaced bulbs on bikes for the past 50 years, the GS Spyder is one of the Most Difficult Ever. I wear 4x gloves, thumb to pinkie is 12.5 inches. I'm going to disassemble the entire dash area soon, as I'm going to install LEDs.

Hi IGETAROUND,
Re: the round base of that bulb is not going to fit
Here is a photo of an H7 bulb - note the type of electrical contacts)

Or does this -> the round base of that bulb
mean something else?
Are you saying that this bulb will NOT fit into an '08 Spyder?

PS) I readily admit that I know little of this stuff; just trying to get definitive answers.

Hi Matahead,
Re: They are H7 incandescents.
When you say 'they,' just what are you referring to; the factory bulbs or the halogen bulbs, or other?
Re: The transformers mount on the back or are attached by wire.
What 'transformers' are you to referring to?
I had a good discussion with the Tech Dept at PIAA this morning ( they are a local company ) and he said that to replace my factory bulbs, I would not need any 'transformers.'

Jerry,
I have no idea whether these will fit your 08 or not. My suggestion would be take it apart, bring your current headlights out where you can clearly see the electrical connection AND how they are held into the bulb housing of the headlight.
Those round bases would not work on my 2014 RS. will try and get a picture of the LED's from superbright that I made fit in my hold down clips

Yes the 2008 takes H7 bulbs and that bulb in the link will fit without any modifications. The Philips xtreme vision bulb is a high performance type. You will be very please with the higher performance. But that performance comes at a cost. It will have a shorter lifespan than a regular H7 type.

LED headlights
Since we are on the topic of headlights....these are the ones I will try to fit in my 08 GS. http://www.vleds.com/shop-products/l.../micro-h7.html
They are essentially a high beam bulb, but with the shutters on the Spyder set at lowbeam, they should be fine until high beam lighting is needed.
I have a set of this company's LEDs in my pickup and they work great.

Well I can't get the pictures to copy to here; if you follow this link should take you there:

What I have been referring to is the round base's on these bulbs; my locking clip had an oblong rectangular hole which required it to be trimmed with metal shears to allow the seating of these bulbs in the head light housing hold down clip. Hope the pictures on the web site will help to explain what it is I'm trying to describe.

Hi Al,
Re: the round base's on these bulbs
I was asking about Halogen bulbs only, not LED's. I've read enough about the problems with trying to fit LED's that I do not want to go that route.

PS) My Philips X-tremeVision bulbs arrived today; hopefully they will be installed this Sunday.
