    Default BEADED SEATS

How many of you use a beaded seat? I sometimes have right hip soreness after about an hour. I talked to someone on a Ohio Spyder ride, and he had a Beadrider.com seat, and said he loved it. Kept him cool, and if he felt an ache, he just shifted his position a little and seemed to help. Also, do sitting on beads, cause lasting impressions in the seat or damage it in any way? I would like feedback before I order, and what brand do you have.
Beadrider.com comes in either wooden beads, or ceramic.

Default I have and use my beads for my bike

I had them on my H-D and they work well for my RT. They actually do help you keep a little cooler down there and alleviate any sweating that you might otherwise be dealing with. Big thumbs up from me ..!

Also to answer your question about damaging the seat or leave any lasting impression-no. Your seat will go back to its original state after some time and there shouldn't be any lasting effect.

I do not recall hearing a bad review on beaded seats. And that covers the period back to 2010 for me. Cost--not to much. I would say give it a try. Riding hurt is no fun.

Do you not like it? Was it bought for a RT Spyder (dmension wise)? How old is it?

I just don't use them since I am comfortable on the stock seat. Yes, it fits the RT perfectly.

14 x 14 is the size I bought for my '13 RTL with the stock seat, WORKS GREAT, already done an Iron Butt SS1K on July 5th (1000 miles above 90 degrees all day) with it, did a 1700mile 2.5 day trip with it, my riding buddy with a '12 stock seat faired not so well. Wished he had one himself.
Doesn't hurt the seat, can go under or over my Ultimate Seats Ride-On Raincover just fine.

I like the beaded seat cover. No damage to the seat or your posterior. I use it when it's hot or when it rains. In the rain it keeps your seat from sitting down into the pooled water that always accumulates there.

On really long rides I find that rotating between having the beaded seat cover on and then taking it off can also extend the comfort of the ride.

    Default Cool but more slippery

I use the Beadrider in the summer; in spring and fall, no beads. BRider keeps cooler tail and seems to allow you to shift pressure point, as there is more structure.

Biggest issue for me is slippery surface, beads would not be so good for agressive riding in the twisties. But, very easy to install/remove while on the road.

Looking at the possibility of a non-slip coating.

    Default Butt Hurt

Had it, sold it. My advice, buy it cheap, this way when you sell it you'll cry less. The Airhawk is the only butt hurt reducing cushion I will ever love.

I had the plastic version vs. the wooden ones. It helped the soreness but I felt that I was going to slide off the thing on sharp turns. I ended up sending it back.

    Just my bad luck.

    Default not

knocking the beaded seat, but slid around too much on it. A cheap gel seat from cycle gear works good for me

I have one that I made from a Walmart taxi seat cover. It works great, but you do slide, so what I did was to paint it with plasti-dip to give it more purchase. Now it works great and no sliding. You do have to occasionally reapply the coating, but otherwise no downside for me.

THERE IS ONE MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THE BEADED SEATS. god forbid you ever have a accident where you get rear ended, you will need a proctologist to have them removed from your butt

Had one on my Harley and now use it my F3. Does not hurt the seat and I love. Swamp Butt is a major problem here in So Florida and it definately helps. Purchased one for the Wife for the rear seat. Good product. I have the ceramic one and not the wood ones. I do not slide on mine. My fat butt must grip it well. The wood ones seem to lose their color down here with the heat/sun so I feel the ceramic one is a better buy.
