GloRyder Wheel Lights?

Does anybody here on SL have these? They look pretty darn cool and I was just curious as to how easy to install? Do they fit on stock RT wheels? Any issues with wheels/tires going out of balance? Thanks

I had the ones that had a remote. IMHO, they are a waste of money. I was always in there changing batteries.

Until they come out with something powered by the bike im out. No way in hell i need another battery powered anything lol. Cant even find a working flashlight in my house as it is lol

I have a set and love them. Mine are the single color, no remote version. I put batteries in in April, and they are still working great as of last night. And this is my daily driver.

I was at Heart of Washington last weekend, and after coming in from a ride at dusk, a couple people came up to me asking about them. They ar ea great conversation starter.

They fit right in the hubs of an RT, easy to install. However, one thing Ii didn't think about but Sue from squared Away says they are a bugger to get out, as the dis-similar metals really bond, and they need them out to do the alignment. So, they charge more if you want an alignment and have them on your bike. Other than that, i think they are a cool farkle, that does get attention.

I have a set sitting on my bench. Whenever I wanted to work on the Spyder and needed to remove the front wheels, I had to pull those darn things off first. What a PTA! The batteries are a PTA! If anyone wants them, I'll send them to you, just pay the postage. Don't blame me when you find out what a PTA they are.

They were trying to develop a set of them that had a generator activated by the motion of the wheels. As I recall; they couldn't get things small enough to fit in that tiny space...

I had three sets. I found them to be satisfactory. I was able to install mine without removing the wheel and could change them out in about 10 minutes. Battery life was NOT an issue for me. To use them here, it required driving out and about in 35 - 40 degree temps. Not fun, so I eventually sold them all.

I even got a thumbs up from a State Trooper as to how they looked lit up on the bike.

since we are talking about lights on wheels, just a COOL thing to see is Lunasee Active Side lighting. I have them on my Honda NT700. here is the "how to" write up I did.

I just had them on the front wheels. I figured that the the side storage compartments pretty much hide the rear wheel anyway.

Good day Spyderlovers.
OK, finally received my Gloryder and did the install.
Before, I would like to provide you with few comments and observations:

• Communication with the vendor was very good. I initially ordered through eBay the set for two(2) wheels but then wanted to change and get the kit for the 3 wheels. Called them, within 15 minutes my previous order was cancelled, the product, which was not on eBay, was added and order placed.
• Items received correctly. For the price of this product I would have expected a better packaging but I was ordering the product and not the box

There were no instruction for the back wheel (nor what to expect as item for it). There are some set screws that are longer than others. I figured out that the shortest one where for the back wheel but I did not have the right quantity.
Also they came in different colors (black and silver). Not problematic for the front wheel since there are hidden. But for the back wheel, I would have expected to get the short ones in silver. (I like when things are neat!)

You will notice that there are 3 set screws for the ring locks while the instruction states that there are two only.
Yes, instruction that comes with the product is not updated and trying to download from their site gives me an error. (Not available).
Also, when I was trying to test the system, before installation, I could not get the lights to come on with the remote.
I was struggling and thought that I had a broken remote (after changing battery) but finally found out (on youtube) that you sometime need to reprogram (pairing) the remote and wheel lights. Again, no instruction provided on this with the package.

• Installing the front ring lock was not as easy as showed on many videos. Very tight and I had to use a Rubber hammer to get them into the center hole of the wheel.

• I tried to install back ring lock but the washer on the rear axle was too big and interfered with the installation.
  Gloryder also said the washer is too big and they've never had anyone with this problem before. (This is funny because I did see Videos from the vendor that clearly show that the ring lock does fit correctly.
  I did read here that apparently there was a rear wheel axle washer changed but the dealer wasn't sure which year. Some people got the washer, BRP Part Number 250200093, installed it on the rear hub and this allowed the rear wheel light to correctly mount.

Personally, I think that a farkle should fit the spyder and not the spyder to fit the farkle.
So, I modified the back rear hub.

I have black wheels and despite this, I think that they render well.
You have the possibility to increase the intensity with the remote. This would certainly drain the batteries faster but I did not see the need to increase it.

By the way, forget about installing this on the right side of the back wheel (there is a dual back kit).
While it may eventually be possible to install, you will struggle and at the end, it will be blocked by the muffler and very close to it (which may results in having the plastic seal melting). And I am not talking about the nightmare when trying to replace batteries.

Here are the pictures of them installed. I am very happy and would recommend them. Even with my fender leds on, it is still nice.

I really like this idea, but for the spyder, I am not sure that it is a practical application on the front wheels. There is really no framework out there to put the LED light. Or am I picturing this wrong?

try anti seize but only need a little can get messy

I am glad you got them installed. my set was a single color, no remote (not sure what difference it would make to the housing.) but had no issues installing them. I only have the front tire kit, and the original batteries are still running strong. I do think they are a unique farkle, and they do get noticed, even in the daytime.

yes you are correct, you would need a small lightweight alum bracket going from under the fender , stretching out around tire to hold light pod 1/2" from rim where the light tape would be. could be done, but i'm not doing this on spyder. will just be doing some other fancy LED sometime
