Ear Plugs
I recently bought some of these and so far I think they are the best I have used.

I only ride with ear plugs. I use the squishy foam ones and when they get dirty I toss em. Fancy ear plugs are just that.....fancy. They will not withstand a higher decibel sound any more then the cheap (and disposable) foam plugs.

I use the same ones, yellow foam. When I worked in the steel mill they gave them to us by the handfuls, now I buy them at the shooting sports stores.

I've been using these since I bought my Spyder, http://earplugsonline.com/. I buy the 24 pack and chuck 'em when they get dirty. I actually cut one plug in half and it gives me a pair that easily fit in each ear.

Strange Ear Canal
I have an odd-shaped ear canal. I have little luck getting sponge plugs to fit properly so I had my audiologist make me a custom pair. They work great. Pricey, but most hearing loss is irreversible, so I consider it a worthwhile investment.

Customs
I purchased some custom made plugs at the Sturgis Motorcycle rally a few years ago and the are awesome. They where form fitted and poured in my ears. I will say they where about $200 and when I was on two wheels I needed them. Now with my F3T it pretty quiet. My customs are now on my night stand for when the wife starts snoring!😎

My wife has the same issue with her ears canal being very small. We had trouble finding a good earplug to fit her well. I bought a pair of FUZE earphones for her and they actually work pretty well. They allow her to plug into her SENA headset so she can hear me and with the goop that you put around them, they seal off the ear pretty well. She has been very happy with them. YMMV....

My ear canals are so small, I'm unable to get ear buds inserted far enough to stay in place.
I found this product on Amazon and it does the job at a very low cost.

For me, and I think probably most people that use earplugs, it's about the wind noise and not the bike or environment noise.

Completely agree.
We happen to have custom formed ones but anything that works for you is what you should use.

I try to stay off those highways, and it can be done, it's the wind noise.
