    Default SpyderFest down under

Got an email from Mike Hadden:

    SPYDERFEST DOWNUNDER MOUNT PANORAMA
    - It’s coming in Spring, 7-9 September 2018. Starting 11am Friday, finishing 11pm Sunday. Pit Bull Powersport’s ‘Spyderfest’ is expanding globally, first stop…Australia. Pitbull holds the largest annual Spyder event globally and is the Number One Spyder dealer worldwide. SpyderMates is bringing their event management expertise, support and a new programme back home for a full-blown Aussie event.

The host accommodation is the Rydges Hotel Bathurst NSW, located directly on the track. Every room enjoys spectacular views of Conrod Straight. A promotional code will be available in time to secure cheaper room rates, please don’t book before code is published . Studio and 2 & 3 bedroom apartments are available which is ideal for sharing, reducing cost. At this time all Spyder parking will be undercover…TBA.

The Rydges Hotel is a first class venue including the Chicane Bar and Grill. Guests can choose to drink or eat in the stylish areas or make use of their kitchenettes in the studio rooms or larger kitchen in the 2 & 3 bedroom apartments. Alternate accommodation & camping is available in the township for those who may prefer something different. See Rydges Photo gallery link at the bottom.

The Can-Am Spyder popularity is evolving in mainstream countries such as the US, Canada & South East Asia, with Australia and New Zealand making gains. The Spyder Community is becoming more global, interaction with global events by Aussies while not large, is steadily on the increase.

The location was selected for its iconic appeal and central location. With that said, no location is truly central to service all of Australia equally, there will always be winners & losers. NSW are winners, with Victoria & Queensland having to travel less than other states. NT, SA, TAS, WA & FNQ have a little further to travel. This location services the greater number of owners.

We have covered the main interest points, allowing owners to plan. Many more details will be announced within a marketing schedule. Programme highlights will be released in coming months. The final Spyderfest schedule will be published closer to the event. Registrations will be available soon. Please email any enquires to either Catrina or myself: mikesoffice@spydermates.com

Registration costs: $145 per person, e.g. rider + pillion = $290. Payment method will be by bank deposit. Be sure at the time of registration to annotate if you are a Veteran or serving member.

Now Aussies are spoilt for choice, you have the 2018 Spyder Muster in Hahndorf SA, in March. Australians can continue to enjoy the Muster which has been running for a number of years now, hosted by an enthusiastic group of volunteers.

‘Spyderfest DownUnder’ in September 2018 is now a reality, with a programme lineup not seen before. Collective events will bring something special closer to more owners.

    Cheers

Sounds good. Wonder how much shipping the Spyder will be?

    Default Now we know.....

How the many out there feel about not being able to attend event we host here. Maybe someone can charter a boat and load it up with all the spyders willing to travel down under for the first SpyderFest abroad....But then rental business would be a good business to be in that weekend....

You're right - we do look at posts of all your events, and notice all your vendors selling and installing "essentials", and are green with envy !

Sadly there is no rental company for spyders in Australia.

Private rental is of course a possibility, but I know my insurance co wouldn't provide any coverage...

Maybe just maybe local dealers may be able to figure something out

Bringing your own would be OK if you added a couple of months and had a great holiday - but then there are registration and compliance issues.

Guess we shall just have to post lots of pics of the event so you can participate from a distance ?

What a great business that would be "Spyder Rentals" its just a pitty that Australia didnt follow the New Zealand laws and allow the rider to ride a spyder on a full car licence instead of a bike licence
If you could ride a spyder on a car licence im sure spyder sales would go through the roof.

    I absolutely agree, Jase.

Even if it were limited to those who have had a full drivers llc for a few years, it would be brilliant.

Here in Victoria, someone has to get two wheel motorcycle lic then ride around for three years before they can legally ride a spyder - and unlearn two wheel habits.

The South Australian system of trike endorsement on drivers lic should be Australia-wide.

The only other solution is a lams ie learner legal 650cc model - now there is another golden opportunity. Can am can then be like other big brands - catch riders when they start out, and you're likely to create brand allegiance and future upgrade sales. It's not worth building this for our little market, but add Asia into the mix, where lower cc is preferred, and can am would have a big seller.
