Trailering a F3L

I recently acquired a nice 7' x 12' trailer to haul my scoot around
if ever the need arose. So, how do you safely tie down a F3L
so that it does not move around and I do not tear up something?
Feel free to jump in here with any and all experience/opinions

We have the same machine. Our trailer is enclosed but the priciple is the same assuming theres a flip up ramp. I didnt want to have all kinds of straps and overcomplicate the process so its a one strap affair.
Once it's in place i place a wheel chock behind the rear tire but just in front of the rear ramp after it has been raised. This keeps the Spyder from contacting the ramp while traveling. In my case i just use the trailer's spare tire. Then while in N i hand push the machine backwards until the rear tire is up against the chock/tire and then hit the parking brake. This prevents the Spyder from rolling backwards at any time during accelration.
Then i just take a very high quality ratchet style tie down strap and and run it through the back wheel on the back most part of the wheel to the rear two corners of the trailer where we have mounts for this. (See the top right pic on page 151of the owners manual) Your trailer may have rails or you can hook to anything stong enough rearward of the Spyder, frame, etc. This will help keep it from trying to roll forward if the parking brake isnt enough.
Works like a charm for us. Spyder never moves. Only one strap needed with our trailer but ours is enclosed. If it was open id prob strap the front down just in case you hit a really good bump and the front tries to walk sideways on u.

This is how they do SHOW cars - place a heavy duty Ratchet strap over the rear or both front tires ( in-line with the tread ) the ends of the straps have to be secured to the floor somehow ( your choice ) ...I would also put a wood block on both sides on the none STRAPPED tire ...... Now nothing gets scratched or bent - PERIOD ...over 10,000 miles of towing with no issues ........... Mike

10mm eye S/S eye nuts for the front for tie downs or towing is the best way.

I always have the parking brake on whenever on the trailer. Makes no sense not to. Would put lots of stress on the trans i think if you didnt with all the back and forth rocking if you leave it in gear, and towing it in N puts a dangerous load on the straps imo. Just to be sure i looked it up in the manual, yep says to use it.

Just looked it up in the manual.
5. Ensure that the parking brake is re-leased. 6. Pull the vehicle on the flatbed trailerwith the winch.
7. Engage the parking brake.
8. Ensure that the vehicle is in NEU-TRAL (N).
9. Strap the front tires by using one thefollowing methods indicated below.

Am i missing something lol? Says there to USE it, no? Oh maybe ur juat saying u dont like to do it that way, i prob mis understood the post But Im guessing its safe if its in the manual.

I had thought you put it in gear. I don't do either. I use three straps. Two front, one rear. The Spyder isn't going anywhere. Even had them install 2 extra tie downs in the center. But haven't felt the need to use them also. Tom

Here is what I use on the front tires. I then strap the rear tire down and slight to the rear. Works everytime.
