2009 Automatic , 20 mph noise
from maybe 19 mph to 22 mph I get a noise that sounds like a bad brake noise. It does not change when I apply the brakes, so I am thinking it is somethingelse. Wish I could pinpoint the location, but having trouble with that. My guess is it is not the rear wheel area.
Any ideas ? , Thanks, Dave 7000 miles on bike

sound
Is it a growling sound? My 2009 RS makes some noise, at that speed, in first gear. Seems to be a combination of road surface, tire type and the belt noise combined. Mine changes as the road surface changes. My Nomad has a similar noise on some road surfaces, when running in the lower gears. So if the noise changes, or goes away, on different road surfaces, it is most likely caused by the tires on that particular road surface.

A little more info,,,, The noise is not road surface related , it does not matter what gear you are in , the front wheels spin freely and don't have any play. I am going to go for a ride and do a couple panic style brake stops and see if that changes it at all. Thanks for your comments and replies The mystery continues,,,,,

..Question - you didn't say whether the noise goes away after you get to 22mph ..... Mike

Yes it is only from 19-23 , it is completely quiet the rest of the time. On some cars there is a metal piece that is on the disc brake pads and when they get worn down it contacts the rotor and makes a squeecking sound, if you know that sound, that is what this sounds like. , but it doesn't appear to have anytjing to do with the brakes. hitting the brakes doesn't stop or change it.

Check your Y pipe gaskets for leaks. They sometimes can make strange noises when they are going bad. JAT

Possibly but not likely ..... if a gasket is leaking ( broken ), imho it's broken ALL the time not just between 19 and 23 mph range ..... Mike
