 A WHILE
Fortunately no one was hurt in this. They have no timeline at this point, but they will get on it right a way. Summer is coming and this is a very popular tourist road. Maybe one of the most beautiful stretches of highway in the entire country, and if you can catch it during mid week one of the best motorcycle roads in the world! Slides on Highway 1 are a pretty common occurrence especially when we have a lot of rainfall like we did this year!

If you really want a beautiful ryde along the West Coast go north of the GG bridge and ryde CA 1 north. It isn't quite as spectacular but does have miles of aromatic eucalyptus trees and curvy roads. And the traffic, mid-week, isn't nearly as crowded as the southern portion of Hwy 1. Stop and say hi to the many marine mammals sunning on the beaches but don't go near them as they move pretty quick when startled. At Jenner, turn east and back along the Russian River to the 101 or continue north on 1 for a more rustic ryde. No threat of landslides on this road.

They mention the area as still unstable, when I read that this thought crossed mind "Isn't all of California unstable?".

They will need another tax for that in California, one when riding on the straight road, another tax for the curve road and of course there is a different tax if you are riding during the day or night. Of course that tax is just for the "Freeloaders" as Gov. Brown would say.

Isn't it amazing how the "Thread Turns". I am pretty sure that when Bob posted this thread it was based on a concern for people in our state! Thanks Bob! But fairly quickly it turned to a California Bashing Thread, and quite possibly, with posts from people who may have never lived here before. Facinating!

This slide blocked a quarter-mile of the road going into Big Sur. I wonder how long it'll take them to open things back up?
