Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV)???
This was in the 2012 sales book...
Brochure_Spyder_Roadster_2012 (dragged) 1.pdf
In 2007, BRP launched its first on-road vehicle. The Can-Am Spyder roadster. A true paradigm shift with its unique Y-architecture. Our passion for innovationcontinues as we work toward developing a future hybrid electric vehicle (HEV). Our goal is dramatically reduced emissions and superior fuel efficiency. We believethat the HEV engine is the way forward for the environment and will bring about another milestone on BRP’s road map toward eco-performing vehicles. Theadvanced concept Can-Am HEV Spyder roadster is once again testimony of BRP’s passion for innovation in the powersports industry.

It would be a small change but, I would suspect that the 2018 F3 will have a retractable windscreen on certain models.

You won't see the hybrid... yet!
This was an exercise by BRP to lock in the technology with some patents... and garner some positive press for being so environmentally conscious...

My only concern is if they were to come out with about 25 more hp than the current models have. Other than that, I am happy with my F3T. As far as the F3 series being for the younger crowd, I doubt it. They seem to be directed towards, and accepted more by the cruiser crowd. Now the RS really seemed to appeal to some of the younger crowd, but now that they are gone, I don't know what their intention is.
As for sales, there is definitely a lot more RT's around in my area than F3 series bikes. I was in a charity ride a couple of weeks ago. There were over 320 bikes of all makes and models. I was the only F3 in the entire bunch. Kind of made me feel special.

My guess is a redesign of the RT model.

I was talking with the BRP rep at spyderfest. I asked if he could tell me about the big surprise at the Homecoming and of course he could not but he did say that the really big one will be revealed with the new model year. I asked if it would be big enough to make people trade their spyders in on the new model like a lot of people did with the 1330. He said that yes it would be that big. So I take that the homecoming announcement will be just a tease and the real announcement will be in September. Just my take on it.

Over the Summer: keep an eye on the Spy-Shots in the various motorcycle magazines and blogs...
They DID give us pictures of the 2014 RT, and the 2015 F3 quite a bit ahead of the official releases.

someone mentioned a leaner, if they did that with a 1330, i would serious thing about another bike. but i doubt it very much

For the 2019 RT models the wonderful engineers figured out a way to make you have to the rear wheel out to change a headlamp and the engine will have to come out to change the oil.

Didn't they have the big game changer announcement at Sturgis a couple of years ago.
Seems many people got all excited and speculation was off the wall.
Then they made the big announcement, F3 in Triple Black.

This is only the 3rd year into the F3 and the 7th year for RTS it will be awhile before they balance out. I use to be the only RS in Group of RT Spyder Riders. A Few weekends ago out of 18 Syders, 5 were F3s, 2 STs and 1 RS. The F3's are getting there. These bikes are to expensive for the younger crowd and they are to expensive for the average interested buyer. They will never take over the market. Why do you think there will be a flood of used F3s on the market? Maybe its the location but in 2 1/2 years I have only seen 1 Used F3 for sale by owner in my neck of the woods. I could not be happier with my F3s. The only thing I might be interested in is an RS with the 1330 engine.

From the dealers that are selling them. Could be our area but I think not.
Time will tell
Like the RS with 1330 idea though
-
betting it's going to be an all electric prototype . 100 mile range or so.

Perhaps they realized they made a mistake and are bringing back the RS (with a sports mode of course):-)
However suspect like others it will be a rerun of the 'Triple Black' saga.
