Oil light on
Just a question if someone may be able to shead some light. Just did a oil change on a new to me 2008 GS. Light went out when I started it up, went for a short ride, maybe 1/2 an hour. Then the oil light came on. checked level again and oil on dip stick is up where it should be. don't see any oil leaks. Any ideas?

Well, the oil light indicates low oil PRESSURE. So, normal with the engine off. Not normal with the engine running.
If you've got the light with the engine running, then the quickest thing you can do is pull the filter(s) and check for a collapsed filter. For some reason, that happens occasionally. One of the causes of that, that I've read about, is that the end plate of the filter separates on removal and stays inside the housing cap. if that isn't noticed and the new filter is installed, it damages it and causes the problem.
Otherwise, if that all looks OK, then it could be a more serious internal issue or the sender - but the timing of it all suggests something related to the oil change. Good Luck. Tell us how you make out.

The other thing is if you got the filter in backwards. The hole goes in.

All of the above
but it is good to specify which clutch you have. The Se5 (auto) or the Sm5 (manual) as you may need to check both filters on the Se5. Oil light is the pressure and therefore either the sending unit, oil pump or the flow...have you ever had the oil screen cleaned in the oil tank..? this could also slow the flow back to the pump...
