Very upset right now and need your advice..I live in a townhome & have had my 2-wheelers parked out back on my cement patio for years with no issues..got my Spyder last year & parked it in same place with no issues..I get a call from property management that I have to move my bike & cannot keep it on my patio..I told them I never had an issue & it was there all last year..all it takes is one phone call for someone to complain and they do not tell you who it is..have had same neighbors for 10+ years so it seems fishy..the first picture shows the open parking space that it will have to be parked in..took the pic from my front door..2nd picture is of my bike now on the back patio safe & out of sight..with kids abound & summer vacation around the corner I am afraid of my bike being tampered with or even stolen!!! I have heard horror stories of bikes being stolen from lots like this one..bike just came out of storage and I cannot afford it year round..I am frazzled

Bike barns or portable storage is not allowed & fighting it will not help. Looks like I am stuck putting it out front in my parking space (see pic). The parking space is only about 10-15 feet away from the front of the homes here which settles me down a litte bit in regards to it being stolen, but, it being messed & tampered with by the local kids is a concern.

Any/all advice would be appreciated by those who park in similar areas & what you do to keep bike safe (or at least gives you a piece of mind).

I park it out front of the apt. building I live in. If it is a concern about kids messing with it, use the cover.

Ask them to show you where in the contract it states that you can't do so. I bet they can't!!!

The security camera idea is a good one - and put a 'smile, you're on candid camera' sign stuck onto the cover.
As well as steering lock, cover and maybe an alarm.
Pay your insurance.
then don't worry about what you can't control...

I have had to park in unsecure areas for long periods of time in the past and found that a cover,especially one that is fastened down) tends to keep honest people honest. You are not going to stop a true thief/vandal anyway so keep your insurance paid up and relax with what you can't change. The contract idea is a good one and if they can't show you a prohibition clause you may be able to work something out.

Re check your contract/lease...use or get good cover. Looks like close parking space which is nice I could not see mine.

Oh they have no problem with me having it on my back patio..only if I can get it there without driving it on the grass..apparently that wasn't an issue for 10+ yrs when I had my 2-wheelers back there and last year (which was the first year I had my Spyder)..it does say no driving on grass or landscaped areas but I guess it was never enforced..but it is now that some ass**** complained or just wanted to be a *****!!

I have the Nelson-Rigg Trimax cover and have been pleased with it..5 yr warranty but was curious as to what others here on the forum use?

My wife wants us to move into a planned community/HOA where they can tell you basically whatever the heck they want to tell you as to what you can &/or cannot do. Fly the American flag? Sorry, can't do that. Park a motorcycle? Not on the street. Build a shed to park a motorcycle in? Nope, can't do that either. Paint your house Beige? Forget it. Mow your lawn twice a week? Boy, you better or risk getting a nasty letter from the HOA chastising you and threatening a fine. It's like parking in NYC, take your chances. Something wrong here.

well with that info it may not be neighbor complaint but the landscaper or lawn crew being over diligant, trying to cover their butts? Anything from contract renewal time to new equipment that may leave tracks. They will cover their own & blame the rest on you kind of thing

Park your bike out front: use your cover, and buy a good security system for it.

Bet they drive & leave tracks when mowing the lawn. A good motion sensor alarm sounds like an idea.

And I think anyone who wants to mess with it would NOT be deterred by having it parked in a different spot anyway.

If you REALLY are that worried, get an alarm.

All the suggestions are good. My advice is to move if you can. Look for a little house with a garage in a no HOA zone. Do whatever you want, within code but generally less restrictive then HOA's. I had enough of the bull from HOA's with the "Failure to Communicate" mentality.

They have all the control over everything on the outside
and you have none.
you can complain to the board all day long and it does not
matter they don't care you must comply.
I recommend you get a good motorcycle alarm and a good quality
motorcycle cover and a lock for your forks a lock for your disc brakes
will work also. and hope for the best.
Watch everything the board members do if you see the slightest infraction
Go after them with a vengence.
Start looking for a new home with a garage.
I wish you good luck, and I'm sorry to hear of your plight with homeowners

Any brand will do. I have used Guardian,Walmart, I really like the ones made by Dowco. They are made from pretty heavy material,are water resistant,UV resistant have an elastic bottom and some also have built in tie downs. Most have eyes for attaching bungee cords. Do a google search for motorcycle covers and you'll come up with plenty.

Nonsense, I live with HOA rules, and when I disagree with something I
lobby my fellow neighbors and we choose a different path, usually mine.
My Association has only 6 members, so probably easier to come to an
agreement. Also i have been the president of the HOA for the last 18 years.

To the OP, try to find out who complained, and speak with them about why
you were doing what you were doing, communication with open arms goes farther than fists.

It may be a stretch, but the management could be more concerned about their lawn/grass than your Spyder. Since the Spyder leaves more of a footprint than a two wheeler that could be what they are complaining about. Check in your contract about lawn damage.

Depending on the distance over the grass, you might get away with throwing down a couple of large tarps and riding over those? Then you're not "really riding on their grass".

If you can't ride on the grass. Don't! Put down some 2x6's ride on them. Or, get some tarps down. Ride on them. Tom
