Summer heat is on its way
Good article on keeping cool while ryding in the summer. Down south in the heat and humidity this is really critical.

An easy, albeit pricey, answer to the high heat is Veskimo. http://www.veskimo.com/body-cooling-vest-products.php
It really does work as advertised.
If possible, use block ice. Lasts longer. Although finding block ice is hit and miss. Depending on what you use as an insulation jacket, you get about 2 hours of cool. Just about one gas stop to another. And you do need an undershirt as the vest gets pretty cold at the beginning of use. I've been using one for about 5 Summers. It is the same system that is used by astronauts to cool their entire body. I think it's for ryding one up and putting the ice box behind on the seat. That's just me. If you're clever, you could work it out otherwise.

Rather than reply to PMs looking for this link, I'm just posting to make this visible again. Summer heat is here!
I was told last year by my dealership that a biker died last summer after riding all day in summer heat, wearing a leather vest with jeans and boots, and drank coffee as he rode.

That's a great read. We are headed for 120 degrees here next week. When it gets this hot, (110+) there just isn't any way to keep cool. Long periods outside air conditioning and rides of more than just a few miles are out of the question.
