High/Low Beam Shutters
Is there a fuse or relay that opens and closes the high / low beam shutters on a 2012 RS? I only have high beams...

The same fuses and relays control the headlight bulbs too. So if any of them are bad the headlights would not be on at all. The interesting thing is is you say the headlight are stuck on high. Default if there is no power to the shutter solenoids would be in low position. So that means the solenoids are powered and you just can't turn them off. That points to the high/low switch on the left handlebar controls.

It does seem odd to have high beam only. But anyway, check your fuse and relay box for a relay called HI/LO Head Lamp Relay...or something similar. The switch operates a separate relay for the shutters on the RT. Why would an RS be any different in that department? Relay could be failed or not seated fully.

I did look at the wiring diagram and there is no relay for HI/LO beam. It is not the same as the RT.

Ok.. I found the headlight relay in the front fuse box. Pulled it out, tapped it with a screwdriver, put it back in and I have high/low beams again... Go figure...

Well that's a surprise. If it stuck once I would think it could stick again. Replace it with a new one.
I was under the impression that the wiring on RS was the same late production 2010 until 2012. Obviously that was wrong. Sorry about that.

Time to acquire a spare?
Identify what you have control over and find peace with what you don't.
