I have a gremlin
Got a small problem I hope someone out there can help with.
I have a 2016 RT Limited the problem is when traveling down the road with cruise control
on and I go to use turn signal to change lanes cruise control turn off. Also when the MP3 player
is on and I hit the horn the music stops for a few seconds.
Any ideas what's going on.
Thanks,
Butch

Just curious about the turn signal / Cruise control connection, do you have any add on lighting on the turn signals?

You may be inaverntly bumping the shift lever mor than it likes?? Shifting gears will cut out CC.
Hopefully thats all it is.

CC should always kick out when you use the shifter

And why would the music from the MP3 stop when I hit the horn

Thinks out loud
When in doubt
I would have the dealer look at it. It sounds to me like there's a potential wiring harness issue.
Identify what you have control over and find peace with what you don't.

Just looked at the service manual & the load shedding relay is on the same circuit as the radio along with the rear heat. You should see if turning on the rear heat effects the radio the same as the horn. They are all fed off a 40 amp fuse, RFB Accessories fuse (J2).
I just found the cc switch on the print. It is wired over to the left switch module & probably talks thru the can bus. Hope this helps.

Or touching the brake pedal!! Cruise disengages when you brake. And as some have found, the return spring on the brake pedal can get a little weak over time, so it can sag just enough to activate the micro switch for the brake lights, putting them on & thereby dropping the cruise - or even preventing cruise from going on in the first place, simply because the brake lights are already on!!

The cruise control switch connects to the left side multi switch, which is a CAN bus processor. That processor controls headlight hi/lo beam, turn signals, and all the audio controls. The horn button is in that switch but is a normal electrical push button, but its ground side is common with the ground of the processor.
I think you have a bad CAN bus processor. The turn signal is mucking up the signals from the processor causing the processor to send out a CC cancel command. The horn button is causing a spurious signal through the ground connection that is causing the processor to send out a volume mute command.
Another possibility with regard to muting. Do you have a headset, either Bluetooth or wired? If so, maybe the horn sound is being picked up by the mic putting the headset into intercom mode thus shutting off the audio volume.

Your title mentioned Gremlins, is your bell malfunctioning? Do you have one? Two? Three of them on the BKE.

I MAY have a clue. I just encountered the same thing last night so I did some testing. Here's the setup. I have Bluetooth adapter in the trunk with the iPod connector plugged into it. I have two 12 volt to USB power adapters in the space under the headlights. The USB power adapter has an on/off switch so I can turn it off when not needed. One of the adapters goes to the phone to keep it charged while I'm listening to Pandora. The phone is connected to the BT adapter in the trunk. I also have the CB communications system and am listening via wired headset.
When the switch to the USB power adapters is off, and the cord is plugged into the phone, and the phone is playing Pandora via the BT adapter (AUX on the screen) every time I press the horn button the audio mutes while the horn is blowing and for a couple of seconds after. I checked and the audio will mute for every audio source. If the USB power adapter switch is on, no muting. This is what I encountered last night.
I can't see the connection between the switched off USB charge cable being plugged into the phone and the horn blowing. The only electrical tie in between the two, when the USB adapter switch is off, is the ground for my air horn compressor and for the USB power adapter both go the auxiliary fuse panel I have.
I just did some more testing before I posted this. The horn mutes all audio when the USB power adapter is switched off. The charger cable does not have to be plugged into the phone, and the BT receiver nor the iPod have to plugged into the aux audio port in the trunk, i.e., I unplugged the iPod adapter cable. The bike has to be running. The muting does not occur when the cluster is powered up by holding in the mute/eco button when the key is turned off. The USB switch has to be off when the bike is started. If the switch is on when the bike is started and then turned off, the muting does not occur.
The speakers also mute. I checked with external speakers on and off, and the headset in off or mix mode.
Weird is all I can say at this time. There must be some sort of glitch being generated in the CAN protocol somehow. It does provide me the benefit that if I'm using the phone to listen to Pandora, and blow the horn, and the audio mutes, I know the power to keep the phone charged is switched off, and the phone will die in about a 1/2 hour or so.
