This just plain true
From Zen Motorcyclist on our riding brotherhood and sisterhood. I really needed to read this during period of constant turmoil out of our capital:
"We [motorcyclists] tend to lean toward the good, toward positivity and open-mindedness. Whether that is true of all motorcyclists or just true of those I call friends is of little consequence. The important and lasting thing is that the vehicle itself, and its transformative nature, seems to promote positivity rather than the negativity it can be so easy to fall victim to. When in each other’s company, we discuss our children, our spouses or significant others, our travels, our trials, our griefs, and joys, and not our political or religious affiliations or our resentments and social grievances."
Like I said, I needed this,
Jim

Kraut,
That whole article is excellent, and very true. Thanks for posting. I liked the picture that went along with the article, Spyder in the middle.

Two more inexpensive therapies for the soul are staring at a fire, or moving water.
Even after some good wind therapy, at days-end I enjoy just sitting at the empty swimming pool watching the reflections in the water and watching the birds do their final playing in the air before they nest for the night.
Did you ever watch birds doing that? You can tell when they are just flying for the pure joy of it, aimless and purposeless, solo or in pairs or small groups.

Spot on! I saved the article, like many of Zen Motorcyclist's articles. He knows the soul of us who ride.

saw this it might fit in this conversation
Was paging through a magazine on the table in my mothers kitchen and found these words spoken by Joseph Addiison [1672-1719]
Quote: If men would consider not so much wherein they differ, as wherein they agree, there would be far less uncharitableness and angry feeling.

And I found that the picture is from the highest point on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Nice ryding country.
