I make it a point to shake the hand and say Welcome Home every time I get the chance when I see a Vietnam Vet.

Thank you to all our Vietnam vets here. And all our other vets, as well.

I know this may not be popular...
Whether you served in Viet Nam with booths on ground, or patrolling the waters, or you were in the military in a support function during the Viet Nam War, my hats off to you. I don't believe in the caste system. I only bring this up b/c today I've been reading comments about differentiating between Viet Nam Era Vets and Viet Nam Vets. JMHO.

Welcome HOME
Welcome HOME. May I please add that this Memorial Day, on Sunday, will be the 30th Rolling Thunder Protest Ride.
What is it about? It is to remind everyone of the plight of POW's/MIA's, those that were left behind. It is an amazing event where 900,000 to 1,000,000 motorcycles ride through Washington, DC to show our elected officials that we will not rest and will not let them forget, until they all come home.

Are you referring to a distinction between those who served "in country" and those who were in the service but didn't have to go to Vietnam?
I always heard "Vietnam-era vets" to distinguish from those from the WWII or Korea era or those who served more recently.

Patti, "Vietnam-era Vets" is the general term for those that served during the Vietnam war, but were not actually in Vietnam. It really doesn't matter. All that matters is they served honorably and did not run off to Canada when your number was called.
