Snap ring found on magnets.
Hello,
I have a 2011 CanAm Spyder. I have taken it in for service for replacing the bad battery and changing the oil. While changing the oil they found a snap ring brought in half. Has anyone ever had this same type of problem? The mechanics are telling me, that I should drive it and if there are problems we will have to take the engine apart to see where the snap ring goes. They said it is not uncommon to have metal shavings on the magnets while changing the oil. They are saying it seems to come from the transmission? The spyder has had no problems? Has anyone had similar issue please help?

I'm going to guess that that is one of the piston circlips (#6)

caution
you should use caution on the service guys idea ! anything held together by the e-clip , or ring clip , it is something that is free moving but is stationary in that position , as a cylinder , or cam shaft ... { what could be the best out come , is that when it was assembled or had been repaired in the past , that the clip might have just fell into the engine area lower side , oil pan side , while assembly , and they just put another on and let this one go too bottom of oil pan , or they did not know it fell and just kept on with the repair } so now the question is , if it is a moving part , and it now has ability too move --- .0005 thousandths either way , it is in fact doing damage ... so the biggie elephant in the post { go on riding and blow the engine , or just do a tear down now before major damage ? } 1 : start looking for another engine , used , and ride till this one blows could be another way too get summer riding under your belt ! but either way , it will cost , either by stranding you way away some where , or in traffic ... this is just my crazy thinking only ! hope it was just something crazy { also thinking --- are these service guys up to snuff -- so too speak ? they would not pull the ` old you have broken part in your oil trick ` ? trying to get you to spend lots of cash ? just question only I do wish too put a shadow of scam on a reputable service arena , but just something too think about , hope it isn`t a super serious deal for you !
