wild turkey
Well now, I have lasted through the first year of my eighth decade of life. Starting the second one today. Spent most of the day in the forest in an attempt at scouting for wild turkeys. Turns out the only turkey was me.

We got too many of them!
When I get up in the morning there are about 30 or so in the front yard. This afternoon there were about 15 at the cemetery beside my house and one was dusting itself under a cedar tree.

Turkeys!
Up here in Maine we have more of them than we need,so if'n you want a few more I'd be glad to try and trap a few dozen and send them to you! We have a hunting season for them in late September I believe. I think they have it figured out though. Shortly before the season they wander all over the place & crossing roads & highways in groups & stand next to the roads & watch the traffic go by. The first day of hunting season, you have a hard time even getting a peek at one. There's a story about how dumb they are. Something like if they're caught in the rain they tip their head back trying to figure out what's going on & actually drownd. I just go to the local supermarket if I want one. Take Care!

I've got my nephew and his friend to take out during youth season. I can't believe how "turkey fever " sets in when I'm calling for a youngster. More so than when I'm calling for myself.

when i had my house in Franklin NY, we had to scare the turkeys to get away from us, because there were so many of them. but i never hunted them.

Normally if you shoot a couple of them (and EAT them! ); it gives the others a good reason to flee the area!
