    Default Belt tension

    Greetings from Finland

    What is the correct belt tension,here are so many different values?
    The bike is Spyder RT SE5 2013 .
    For the measurement I have Gates 91132 Krikit II V.

    Default Well....

    I see most running from 160 to 200 but as a rule of thumb you should not be able to twist the belt 90°. It's my understanding the loose is better all around...

    Basically anything from snug to tight that does not cause a vibration at your favorite riding speed is OK!

    Thanks for the reply, I had read those messages, but I ensure this issue.

    I build the belt stabilizer just in case so that there will no to be the belt vibration but what is the right force what the roller presses the belt.
    The stabilizer should to be below the belt,a bit like Baker Built stabilizer.
    During the winter it is a good time to outfit the bike.

    The parts are not expensive in USA but if I order the parts to Finland it comes in addition the freight and it is expensive, and here I have to pay the customs in addition,therefore I thought to build the stabilizer itself.

    I have the roller pressing up onto the lower run of the belt with 10 - 12lbs on the scale that was provided by SmoothSpyder.

    I also have a Krikit reading in the centre of the upper run of the belt of 180lbs, the Spyder sitting on the floor with all its weight on the suspension.

    Mine is an '08 GS though.

    Default Help is on the way

    I reached out to Markku via PM. I have an original SmoothSpyder that I never installed. I now have the newer BRP version and do not need the SmoothSpyder. Jim at SmoothSpyder helped me gather the documentation that I misplaced, and some install pics and was very quick in responding.

    I am sending my SmoothSpyder to Markku as a gift so he can avoid the customs hassles. We have to help our brother Spyder riders whenever we can.
