I placed a volt meter on the right and a RAM base mount on the left for my GPS.

IMG_1977.jpgI installed a dual usb port on one side and a volt gauge on the other. used a 52mm gauge blank to install the usb port in and snapped the blank into place.

If you search on 'disconnect gauge' you'll get several pages of ideas on what to put in their place including how to instructions on some and purchasing information.

    Default Gas and temp gage

I would like to replace my gas gage for a 12volt plug. I heard you have to run a hot wire to the battery. I thought I could use power from the gas gage. Or do I need to run a power wire to the battery.

It kind fo depends on what you want to do with it...
For a light application that is only powered when the bike is running: you could tap into just about any hot wire and ground that you find.
But for something with a bit more "pull", and is always hot: go to the battery, and add a fused link.
