Just don't press down too hard - or 'the Splits' might become a cold & wet reality!!

And don't whatever you do make a full circuit of the car parked out there in the middle - doing that could give the car's occupants a sinking feeling!

It seems to me that squatting down like that, and holding the saw out in front of you for any length of time is just gonna give you the back-ache from HELL!

The lake they are referring to (Kenai Lake) is very big and very deep. 20 miles long and in many places over 500 ft deep. I would be very careful driving cars out there.

Is the water level in that lake consistent over time?
We've got some reservoirs by me, where the ice might be two feet thick...

...But you could have a 20 airspace right underneath it!

The lake is like a big reservoir. We have not had any issues with low water here. This is the headwaters of the Kenai River which is the destination of salmon fisherman from all over the world. Still pretty pristine, but the salmon quantities are not as good as they were five years ago. Based on the size and depth of the lake, I would keep my car off any part of the frozen big water. I am overcautious of course.

I was never too keen about putting a car or truck out on the ice...
But I always liked riding the lakes with my snowmobile!
