Hi akspyderman,
Re: The high % of issues on CanAm has to do with having not as many sold in the total market. That brings up the % fail rate quickly.
Well, that is what their ratings are all about, failure rates => percentage of failures. It is not about quantity sold.

I'd like to know the types of failures the study was based on.
For instance, 42% of Spyders are deemed unreliable, I guess based on service calls to the dealers.
Is this because the engines hace failed and left the riders stranded ?
Or the PTT button on the CB Radio failed ?
If it ain't broke, don't break it.

Bingo, To them, an engine failure, or a burned out bulb are no different.

Yep, let's kill the messenger
My most trusted and all time reliable ride was a Yamaha, a couple of them. My bike that's spent more time in the shop than any other, Can Am Spyder. I think commenters on this web site help prove the survey's conclusions. Like most companies I think BRP is cutting too many corners buying the cheapest products possible and taking the lowest bid to increase their bottom line.

That's why I rode Yamahas for so many years...virtually bullet proof.

They're all pretty darn good, and if I ever thought that a vehicle was going to fail: I just wouldn't buy it in the first place...
