Jim, What event in South Carolina, I've never been except to fly into Charleston then up to Myrtle Beach, and would look at any Spyder event to have a reason to drive down and around other parts of that fine state!
One of our best vacations ever was at Hilton Head and then years later at Myrtle Beach.

There was an event in the northern part of the state last year in the beginning of June. Forget the exact time it we stayed in boiling Springs. And ended up buying land in gaffney

Mike had a medical issue last year, and i haven't heard of any activities planned for 2017....

I was stationed at Myrtle Beach AFB from Oct 1987 to Oct 1991. I can honestly say it was one of my "top two" assignments. I really enjoyed picnicking and swimming in the ocean at the Myrtle Beach State Park; spending summer nights walking the Grand Strand's beaches, boardwalk & pavilion; drinking and throwing darts at BoDo's; eating sea food at Captain D's in Murrells Inlet; and fishing the different bodies of water (e.g. salt water of the ocean, the brine of the inter coastal water way, and the fresh water lake out by Santee Cooper). The only hardship memory I have of the area is the destruction and recovery phases after Hurricane Hugo ripped through. One of these days, I will make it back there for a short vacation.
In case your wondering, Comiso, Sicily (Oct 1986 - Oct 1987) was my other "top two" assignment.
