T'was the eve of The Solstice

Okay, you guys got my creative juices flowing, for whatever they're worth! Here's my contribution:
Wendy (ruralgirl)
T'was the eve of The Solstice,
And deep in her den,
Lay a slumbering Spyder,
Since November ten.
As each night grew longer,
And more snowdrifts swirled,
Nightmares of darkness,
Inside her head twirled.
Would there be sunlight,
Ever again?
Would snow turn to green grass,
And, if so, when?
As her turmoil progressed,
Her shocks quivered in fear,
And the gas in her tank,
Sloshed so loud you could hear.
Then she woke as a moonbeam,
Glanced off of her frunk,
And startled the cat,
Who fell off with a thunk.
"Back to sleep," she thought sadly,
But, wait! Could it be?
There's a smidgeon of dawn,
At just quarter past three.
A minute tonight,
Two minutes tomorrow,
Days WERE getting longer,
No reason for sorrow!
"My mistress and I WILL ride again!"
She cooed to herself in her cozy warm den,
And she fell back to sleep with a smile on her grill,
Knowing now Spring would come .... It's just over the hill!
