Way better Y-pipe gasket for 1/2 the price
I got my GL1800 exhaust gaskets today and I can tell out of the box it's going to be a better gasket. The material is much better and weighs about twice as much as the stock gasket. I received two new BRP gaskets at the same time and they were damaged when I opened up the bag. The Honda gaskets were just under 6 bucks and the stock gaskets are just under 12 bucks. The Honda gasket is just a tad longer but ID and OD are the same.
Part number for the Honda GL1800 gasket is 18392-MAM-000

Lamont,
For those of us that do not get 'that' into the bike regarding working on it inside and out, do you think that ordering this part and taking it the dealership for service would be a good idea?...my dealership has installed aftermarket things for me without a blink in the past so they'd likely do something if I ask, provided it's not dangerous and the parts are interchangeable.
Thanks....
Also, I assume just go online and order this somewhere? Do you have a good online source?

You should be able to get it from your local Honda dealer. I don't see why your dealer wouldn't install these as they are a much better quality gasket.

This may sound like a stupid question, but here goes; What is a Y-pipe gasket. I assume that it is where the two exhaust pipes join into one and then to the muffler. The joint where the two pipes join appears to be a welded joint ( unless I am missing something) and the muffler (Hindle) doesn't have a gasket. So where is the Y-pipe gasket?

That's a big 'un. 2.625" ID x 2.875" OD is very unusual.

The one on the right is the GL1800 one, the one on the left is BRP and is damaged.

Lamont for us who do not use a gasket as we have the hindle what can you recommend to use to stop the leak at the joint, I have tried a few different high temp exhaust gasket silicone and it does not hold up for long.
Also how important is that spring that is at the joint, I have lost mine and waiting for dealer to get another one should I be worried that there is none. (lack of spring did not make leak it has been there from day one when I put on the hindle)

Lamont,
In your photo, is that blood on the floor?

I have a Hindle coming next week and I'll see if mine leaks and if it does and I find a fix I'll let you know.

Awesome find!!
Going to order some to be ready when they are needed. Am thinking of wrapping my pipes ---- and will swap them then.
Speaking of which - has anyone had their pipes ceramic coated?
Now if we could just find some better bearings !

for the big end gasket
If some one will pm me the measurements I think I might have a real good solution for that one too! I'll be out of pocket for 3 or 4 days so don't expect the post for a few days.

I'm after a pair of these. I rang my local Honda shop in Sydney (Aus) and was told they were $27 each. Ouch!
Would someone be willing to put a couple in the mail to me and work out the cost say by Paypal?
Cheers;
Pogo.

PoGo...
I keep 10 to 20 in the cabinet all the time. I just got 10 fresh ones in stock. Send me a pm with address and quantity that you wish. Also be advised these that I just got cost me $8 with tax. I was told by dealer that honda had just raised prices 15%. Last ones I bought 3 months ago were 6.50 and tax. Just reimburse me for the 8 I paid and shipping.
Also do you need any relays? I have the small and large units. Borg warner types and they are 30/20. Small ones cost me 9 and the big one was 17. Let me know. /Ken
