Is that peg actually connected to the shift linkage, it looks too far away from the foot peg to be useful. It looks like someone added a foot rest to the bike to me.
If this happens to you, simply take one of the triple clamp bolts (that still leaves you with three) and use it.

Before you spend the money try plugging the ECM back in and see, even though the pin looked clean the voltages are so low sometimes just reseating the plugs works.
Was the oil milky colored? Did the exhaust have a sweet smell? If not you could restart it and let it warm up and see if the smoke clears up. If it does recheck the oil and see if it is still clear...
