Thank you to everyone who replied. I'm not so anxious now.
Every time I have to make even a minor repair to my wife's RTL, I have to remove a minimum of seven pieces of plastic first. Now she wants me to buy my own cycle. Is the F3S any easier to access?
IMHO, Spyders do *not* like dirt roads. My wife managed to get stuck in a dirt driveway, for goodness sake.
In the Bad Old Days, every garage had a "grease monkey" who wanted to learn to be a mechanic. Unfortunately, the "learn" circuit on Can-Am techs seems to be disconnected at the factory.
It's not a matter of someone having this problem. It's a matter of *everyone* having this problem.
Should be possible. Try an advanced search on Cycle Trader with Make = CanAm, Model = Spyder, and Price = 10001 or less. See what's in there that suits you. Remember that a dealer is going to want...
I just looked in our 2020 RTL and there are 2 cables in there. One is a female USB jack. To reach your phone, you will need a cable that goes from a regular-size USB plug to the mini or micro USB...
We ride a Spyder RTL and it has spoiled us for lesser motorcycles. I still have the balance to ride 2 wheels, but go "why bother?" IMHO, the Spyder RTL is the Cadillac limo of motorcycles.
Because my wife is so generous with the Purina, the pride of feral cats in my backyard has grown to seven members. I'm thinking of installing a cat delete pipe.
Agree with JayBros. We have these on our cycle and they work fine.
It takes a thick skin to be a motorcyclist. Unfortunately, it sometimes takes a doubly-thick skin to be a Spyder Ryder. I would put up with it happily if that skin was just VISIBLE to cagers.
Brake fluid certainly does go bad slowly. It picks up moisture from the air. Changing the fluid after several years is easier than rebuilding calipers.
Possible (not guaranteed) sequence of events: Bugs in the radiators cause fan motors to overheat. Overheated motors draw extra current. Extra current welds the relay contacts.
At the Motorcycle Safety class they told me to always use my head. So I do. Were I shorter it would be a problem.
A tip if you can: Get one of the Rykers they usually use for the course. It's easier to navigate in confined spaces than the Spyder.
Please Google "marine intake air hose" for some possible replacements.
The repair manual. Either printed or on computer. Even if you never lift a wrench, you can use it to figure out which jobs are hard and which easy. That keeps you from being a ripe sucker for...
The hand vacuum pump is $25 at Harbor Freight. That plus the cost of a can of the best brake fluid you can find.
Our 2020 RTL doesn't sound *that* bad. For example, more like a "regular" car and less like a classic Volkswagen. My wife is very sensitive to sharp noises and doesn't mind the RTL exhaust.
The gremlin was installed free, no extra charge.
Having ridden both, I choose the Spyder. I agree with the folks who say that after riding a Spyder, a Ryker feels like you left half your motorcycle at home.
Indeed it has been fixed. The article we both remember (I'm showing my age) pertained to stretching the abilities of natural petroleum oil. Most of us Spyder Lovers run full-synthetic oils which...
Generally, synthetic oil is good to at least twice the recommended change interval, or 7000 miles in your case. I know I just made a sweeping generalization. Let the griping begin...
Or you could install a vibration damper ("belt tensioner") if the cycle doesn't already have one.
Something is clearly wrong in the second photo. The black gear is down below the key that is supposed to catch it.
I'm lazy and use Nu-Finish.
Glad you are still here to write about it. Trike can be replaced, you can't.
We had exactly the same problem after an air bag collapse. Usual symptom is an extremely harsh ride where you can feel every little bump. Think old-time Harley before they grew springs.
Its father was stuck in a cold warehouse with those low-class Ski-Doos. They are such floozies.
